This man is the finest doctor I have ever met. Period. I have been to numerous other chiropractors in serveral states up north and in NC, and no one has been able to help me as much or as quickly as Dr. LeGrow. Not only does he know and understand about my various medical conditions even more than my regular medical doc, I have not met a doctor who is more sincere and caring.
I came to him with severe back pain and leg numbness due to a ruptured disc. I tried the shots, other chiropractors, physical therapy, but I just got worse. My last injection hurt me so bad down my leg I had trouble walking ever since. The specialist said it was time for surgery. I always decided I would NEVER have surgery, but I hurt so bad for so long that I was starting to change my mind. The fear of how the rest of my life would be was getting to be more than my fear of surgery.
When I went to Dr. LeGrow he not only helped me understand (for the first time) what was happening in my spine but he clearly explainied how he was going to help me.
Well, he didn't really help me, he absolutely fixed me! I never thought I would feel this good again! As I got better he taught me how to bend, lift and exercise correctly in ways I never learned from the physical therapists I have been to. I actually have confidence in my spine again.
My biggest challenge now is to regain my fitness that I lost over the past 8-10 years that I wasted being disabled with my back. Dr. LeGrow is so smart and wise about the best exercises for me. I like to train with weights but don't get the chance very often. He showed me different ways to strengthen my spine and my core that are easy for me to do at home, and when I do go to the gym I can work out with the weights more safely and correctly.
While I love to come to his office, he told me his goal was to get rid of me (smiling). He said that whenever possible he wants his patients to be able to stay well on their own. If I had to keep coming back to him indefinately then he feels like he didn't do his job. I am now happily independant from him or any other doctor as far as my back problem is concerned.
He does recommend follow-ups to check on things and I was supposed to see him about 5-6 weeks from today. I didn't make it.
I had to go back to him 2 weeks ago because I sprained my ankle running through Duke Forest the day before. I already had xrays at the ER (4 hours!) so I knew it wasn't broken. The pain was so severe, but I still couldn't help but smile as I came through the door of his office. This is strange, but it felt good to be back. He checked out my ankle and started work on it the same day. 2 weeks later I can jog with just a little discomfort and I feel better every day. And amazing, my back never hurt a bit even when I was limping!
I can write so much more about how he has helped me and my friends who also see him, but TRY IT YOURSELF!
Whether you are a professional athlete or get your exercise by pushing the button on the remote, he is the best doctor to see. He likes to work with your medical doctor, too. My MD is impressed.
