.

I first saw Dr. Mathis 8yrs ago for migraine headaches. I had migraines for many years and had been taking prescription codeine phosphate for 3 or 4 years as pain relief. I made the mistake of asking for codeine and afterwards Dr. Mathis totally ignored any request for pain relief. When I began to lose the use of my right hand his diagnosis was: Poor posture. His response to my neck and back pain: lose weight, give up smoking and correct my posture. He did prescribe flexoril and other muscle relaxants which did no good whatsoever and I repeatedly told him this. When I began to have vision problems in my right eye I was told it was a cold in my eye. I do not know if he wrote in his little book I was a hypochondriac seeking pain pills but that is how I felt he treated me. He would not sign my request for sickness benefit and ultimately I lost my job because I could not keep up with the workload as my hand got worse. If he had been a more personable Dr. he might have joined the dots: changes in vision, loss of muscle strength in arms and/or legs, change in sense of touch, pain? the basic symptoms of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS but instead he formed an opinion of me, stereotyped me, and switched off. It is important to begin multiple sclerosis treatment as soon as possible and I have lost 8yrs and now both my hands are affected.
