If you can enjoy going into a dentists office for tooth pain, I can. I have seen Dr. Houston and his staff for several years, and woudn't change a thing.

His prices are resonable (they are comparable to most dentist prices in DFW, from what I've seen) and he works great with my insurance company.

I've never had a problem getting an appointment. If pain is involved it's usually same day. The staff will spend as much time needed with the patients and will show you and explain everything clearly.

No work is done without a price estimate and they will not push you into any procedures you do not want.

I have always left Dr. Houston's office happy.

11-22-10 Another "BEWARE"

I hope to help others become aware of unethical and probably dangerous practices within confines of this ??dental practice? and avoid if they so desire. This is what has happened to me.

I contracted with Dr John "Tom" Houston, Tom Houston and Assoc., 2615 Interstate 30, Mesquite, TX 75150, (972) 681-8167 for a Root Canal, Crown, new Lower Partial, and Full Upper Plate.

I'm a heart patient, so anesthesia was necessary to overcome the stress. This was done and surgery went fine. A week later, I receiver a letter stating no other work on my teeth would be done until Dr Tom Houston received a health release from my personal physician stating that I am healthy enough for surgery. This was AFTER THE FACT, my physician would NOT be a part to a blatant sham. Health release's are acquired PRIOR to surgery, not afterward.

Several weeks went buy. I then went to their office and requested a full refund since obviously my dental work would not re-start. Dr Houston sent letter to my physician, they talked, and my dental work re-started. But with many problems....

Now my dental work was being done by a totally unqualified assistant. She worked in my mouth several times before I finally requested Dr Houston complete my work himself. Not have her name at this time, but she is the major obese Mexican assistant in the office.

1. She chose the Crown and Denture's color shade without consulting me, her choice was much too dark, would look weird.

2. She applied too adhesive to the aluminum temporary Crown, had to be ground off, plus deadening mouth.

3. She sent my old partial to their "lab" in Garland, TX for altering to fit my new porcelain Crown. Size was totally figured wrong, was a full 1/4 inch undersized.

4. She put on another aluminum temporary Crown. It too had to be ground off, but without deadening. Most painful, water came out of my scalp and forehead. She did give me a paper towel....

5. She used her grinder to cut off a metal brace on my old lower partial so the new taller Crown would fit. She left the SHARP RAGGED edge which sliced side of my tongue numerous times before I figured the problem and remedied by filing edge off smooth.

5. Finally the porcelain Crown was installed. BUT; she used too much adhesive causing Crown to be permanently to high. Nothing was done for the Crown height, so upper denture did not fit. After arriving back home, I grown off enough of upper plate so upper and lower plates would meet, I could chew.

6. I asked for and got Dr Houston to make the mold for lower plate, it went great.

7. I went in today for the lower plate mold fitting and again requested Dr Houston do the work himself. I was ushered to a side office where I tried to explain to the assistant and another woman, maybe the office manager, chastised me as an unruly patient.

I requested a refund and was told would take up to 30 days due to getting my account records. Bunk, my account records are there, a refund within 10 days would have been fine, everyone satisfied.

I further explained that I believe we need a Court Judge make remainder of decisions, qualify the refund, and order the refund. I was next told to leave their office now, which I did.

This will be filed in JP Court for settling, would have been so much better for Dr Houston to complete the work he contracted for and avoiding the trouble and bad exposure.

BEWARE this dental charade.... not worth the aggravation, pain, and time loss.

I just visited Dr. Houston and was thoroughly impressed with him and his staff, everyone there seemed polite, friendly, and upbeat. I came in with a pain in my top, back tooth on my left side and he had me seated in a timely manner and found a crack in my tooth and fixed me. Now I no longer have any pain. I'd highly recommend his office to anyone reading this.

I saw the ad for a cleaning. The price was good, but you get what you pay for. Beware if you need anything else done. That's when the list of fees come in. I would not recommend him for long term dental care.

Dr Houston is a kind caring Doctor. My checkup appointment was first one morning. As soon as I sat down, I told Dr Houston about a man in the waiting room who was obviously in severe pain. He turned to his nurse and said, "Get that man in here."

Great guy,BUT,I had 2 crowns made from his dental lab and both cracked, the lab he uses that built my crowns is not what i call quality work and he doesnt care, must be ur fault they said, I assure the readers here it was not anything I did, so if u get crowns be prepared for them not to last more than 3years, and it will happen! by the way youll pay full price for another, and they arent cheep! my advice, is find another dentist who uses a different lab!!!!

I've been to many Dentists in my lifetime and I've never experienced one as competent and knowledgeable as Dr. Tom and his assistants. My experience was efficient, caring and pain free.

My son first went to Dr. Houston in October, for an anual checkup, and x rays. They found one small cavity which they filled for $269.00.He was told he would need a deep cleaning for an additional $180.00. My son is 18 and this was his first filling in any tooth, as he cares for his teeth and we had gone to dentists on a regular basis. When I requested a copy of his record and x rays, to take to another dentist, I was told the charge for the xrays and a copy of his records for the one visit was $150.00. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone.

When I called to set up a cleaning appt at this dental office I was immediately told of a $50 special they had which saved me quite a bit. The staff was so friendly when I got there and I really liked how they treated me. I really recommend this place to everyone.
