I have been a patient for over two years and missed an appointment and was charged a fee. When I made the appointment I said there was a good chance that I might not make it and was told that was fine make the appointment anyway. I was unable to call because I was in a testing room and unable to leave or use a cell phone. I feel its harsh because I have never been late or missed and appointment before. Front desk is not very friendly!!! I guess if you have a lot of patients you dont care if you loose some along the way due to poor customer service.

Excellent physician. Dr. Blaes is very insightful and skilled at practicing medicine. I have never had a better practitioner. I recommend him without reservation or hesitation.

Was a patient of Dr Blaes for several years, and during that time missed/cancelled 3 appts, and out of the blue he "fired" me, telling me that I'd signed something at the beginning of our relationship which said that 3 missed appointments was cause for dismissal. (Fair enough if that's the policy, but my problem was that he wouldn't give me a referral to help find a new Dr). I'd also always paid for missed appointments out of pocket.

The major reason for seeing Dr Peter Blaes was for ADHD, but later he diagnosed me bi-polar. Having ADHD it's hard to manage appointments, staying organized, and taking meds when you're supposed to.

Once diagnosed with bipolar disorder, he immediately put me on a cocktail of meds, one of which sedated me so heavily (Seroquel) that I couldn't walk or get out of bed for two days, and on the 3rd day I was still pretty "high". I told him that with two small kids this was not convenient, nor safe, and he basically told me to suck it up & keep trying it for another two weeks. The next two weeks were hell, with the exact same symptoms and I was only on 200mg. When I went back he tried to explain that the seroquel should be upped to between 600 and 800mg - and there was no way I could handle that.

There wasn't alot of time for communication in his office visit, because he had a booked waiting room, so I often felt a little helpless at the lack of information I was receiving for a diagnosis that I was still trying to come to terms with.

The wait time in his office was usually at least 15 - 30 minutes (which wasn't great considering I had twin toddlers in a 2hour preschool program & didn't always have the extra 30 minutes to wait). His staff was polite, but not real helpful in getting meds refilled without coming in for an appointment. (Again, if you're on the same meds month after month with no changes needed, why the need to go in and see him every month)?

Overall if you're the type of person who is on time, able to keep your appointments (and not cancel the same day), have your say in 5-10 minutes, and take what he has to give you, then you'll probably have no problems with Dr Blaes.
