I was downsized by my employer and was on Cobra insurance. I called to have a physical done since it would be covered at no charge to me. I was told I could not get in for 3.5 weeks. I explained how my insurance would run out in 2 weeks. They called me back after they talked to the doctor, He said he could get me in for other things but not a physical...it is too time consuming( and must not pay enough) I then ran out of a daily medication I need and called to get a refill. They told me they would not refill it until I had an office visit....again not for a physical but a regular office visit. I told them I no longer have insurance and it will be another 20 days for my new insurance to kick in. They did not really seem concerned about the out of pocket expense I would have to pay to have an office visit at 100% my expense. I was then transfered to another person who was not very polite and Ihad to explain everything all over. She said she would ask the doctor to write a refill for a few days in order for me to get my new insurance. I asked if I could schedule a physical since it is covered 100%. I was told no. I told her of my huge deductable and that I really did not want to pay $100 for an office visit just to get a precription for blood pressure medicine that I would also have to pay 100% of the cost. She called 30 minutes later just to tell me that they no longer want to be my doctor and to take my needs elsewhere. Rude... and it seems they are only in it for the money.
