Dr.Scannell,
is a great doctor i have had her for 15 years now.
she did my hysterectomy just this past March 2012.
i don't understand why someone on here would complain about her not being concerned that she was having bladder, kidney problems?
well, she is an ob not a urologist. if say person is having trouble with their bladder/kidneys go see a urologist. she deals in women's reproductive not kidney whole different thing.
i have had kidney stones bladder problems i see a uro.
Dr.Scannell is aware as she does need to know, but when it comes to those certain problems i tell my uro who went to school for that.so,saying she was not listening to you or what not??
it's not what she went to school for.
she does take time to listen i saw her last week as i am now having hot flashes to deal with.she could of just talked to me over the phone ,but decided to see me in person.not many doctors do that anymore.

She is more concerned with her research and missed a major medical concern with me. Unfortunately was caught late and cause me hardship. She should stop and listen to her patients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Scannell for approximately 20 years, and she has always provided the most thorough, thoughtful, informed care. She offers information on the most conservative treatment as well as the more aggressive treatments and she takes the time to discuss options and pros and cons, and she has always helped me to make the most informed decisions about my care, while making it clear that she cares about me as a patient.

I second Janet M's assessment of Drs. Scannell and Chernosky. Dr. Chernosky was my primary OB during my pregnancy, and I was always satisfied with the time she spent answering my questions and listening to my concerns and wishes. Unfortunately, it was Dr. Scannell who delivered my daughter. I found her rude and completely uninterested in my wishes, questions and concerns. She pushed me towards unnecessary interventions and failed to inform me that I lost a large amount of blood during the delivery (only discovered when I nearly passed out). Despite liking the other physicians in this practice, I would not recommend it for pregnant women as they would run the risk of having Dr. Scannell at the delivery.

The good news: Dr. Chernosky is a wonderful physician. My daughter has been going to her for the past ten years and Dr. Chernosky is always super nice, friendly, informative, and takes her time to listen to questions or concerns my daughter may have.
The bad news: I have been going to Dr. Scannell for 25 years. She has known me since two years after my daughter was born, and for my son's entire life. She was a decent physician up until the last few years. The very last time was the worst. I recently had a severe kidney/bladder infection and was having terrible pain and blood in my urine. I went in and tried to explain my problems and she entirely ignored my questions and every time I asked her anything she'd give me an answer to something I didn't ask nor was relevant! She seemed completely preoccupied and rushed me through the appointment. I didn't get any answers or the help that I so desperately needed. She even asked me if I had children! This woman has known me for 25 years and had my chart right in front of her! This is the third bad experience I've had with her, and unfortunately will be the last. I would recommend not using this physician.

I decided to use this office for my third pregnancies after receiving multiple recommendations from other women. I was not disappointed. The doctors are all wonderful. I worked mostly with Dr. Chernosky but due to some issues that came up unexpectedly towards the end of my pregnancy, I ended up working with Dr. Scannell a bit too. She was very professional and great to work with. I would definately recommend her and the whole office to anyone.

I chose to visit this office because I had heard great things from other pregnant women. I felt I received excellent care through my pregnancy, had a great delivery and care after was top notch.
Highly recommended!

PROS: Attentive and caring
CONS: Limited office hours, rotating practice means you might not see your doc
