I have been a satisfied patient of Dr. VanRegenmorter for almost 20 years. They always get me in and out quickly while still being very professional. The staff in the Tiverton, RI. are amazing- I have nothing but good things to say about Dutchman Dental and JP.- Ranee

My first appointment went perfect the woman that preformed my cleaning was awsome, but when I actually had to get a crown it was the most horrible dental experience I have EVER had, Dr. JP did not even introduce himself or explain what procedure he was about to do, he yelled at the dental assistant right in front of me because the mold for my crown that she made was wrong it was very unprofessional.Everytime I scheduled an appointment they would change the time to a half hr to an hr later so I would have to wait and accuse me that I had the wrong time when I know specifically what time the appointment was and this would make me late for work which wasnt good, and the biggest deal of all my crown was put in in june and im still in pain now in October and I went back to get it fixed and he was rude about fixing it implying that i was faking it. All in all i will never go back to "dr Jack hammer"

p.s maybe they should spend less money on the tvs and massage chairs and charge less for that less than satisfatory work

This dentist spotted problems my gf has had for years and immediately put her on a plan to correct everything. He has saved her gums and her molars from needing to be replaced by dentures.
He also personally performed the extractions of my wisdom teeth, a couple of which were impacted. He has a phenomenally delicate touch and left me needing nothing to quell pain. I've heard horror stories of wisdom teeth extractions and experienced none of them. JP knows how to wiggle the tooth to be mostly freed from the gum BEFORE pulling. That made all the difference, and I didn't even need an advil.
These other reviews I've seen on here are complete mischaracterizations. I doubt many of them even went to JP. His staff is very professional and courteous.
He also helps when insurance doesn't cover everything. He reduces rates, and does what he can to work with you. He even gives clients expensive tooth cleaning equipment for free if he feels they need it, such as a WaterPik for the clients needing a bridge.
His waiting area is cozy and quaint, he gives free coffee and even has a Gameboy available for kids to play with while you wait. I simply cannot say enough positive things about this dentist.
The only explanation I can think of for these negative reviews (if they are JP's clients) is that they want to discourage JP from taking new patients to keep his schedule more open. He's quite busy, but will work overtime to fit you in for emergencies.

Oh yes... I too had a very bad experience. I left with a bleeding lip and almost felt like crying. He is downright rude. He never greeted me nor did he explain what he was doing or what his game plan was going forward. I made an appointment to have one procedure done and he changed game plans, overcharged me and hurt me to boot. I know that he has charged friends about $500 less for the same procedure. What gives? Maybe someone (maybe myself) should complain to our insurance carriers?
I certainly will not return to this office. His staff seemed ok, but they also must see what is going on and be worried about their future.

This dentist was nicknamed "Dr. Jackhammer" by my husband because he is so rough! If you complain, he just says "that doesn't hurt".
I agree with the other writer, in that during our numerous visits, the "good" doctor had the WORST BREATH EVER...and he would breathe all over you during the visit (being so close to your face). He was continually singing off tune in your ear, and would constantly ignore you while chatting to his coworker/assistant about whatever was his 'topic of the day'. I found him to be disrespectful, overly rough, stinky breath (I almost wrote an anonymous letter to his staff regarding this), and overall would NEVER recommend him. The only reason we kept going was that we knew we were moving soon and didn't want the hassle of changing all our records for such a limited time.

Over the years, I've been to Dr. Van Regenmorter for numerous procedures and have been very pleased with the results. He may not have the most delicate touch, but he gets the job done and with a pleasant demeanor. He has a good heart and has donated to various charitable causes- it's sad to see someone rip at his credibility over a bad breath day. Maybe he just ate something stinky for lunch. In the end, this dentist is one of the better in the area and comes highly recommended.

I went here a handful of times before realizing I could do better. "JP", as they call him in the office, is a jackass. First off, your a DENTIST, brush your teeth or suck on a mint. Numerous times, he had THE worst breath known to man. And it's not like you can avoid it, sitting in the chair 2 feet from his face. He doesn't shave everyday either, which is kind of frightening to see up close, also. The staff, however, was always nice. But hey- you're not their to chit-chat with the hygenist, are you? I wasn't impressed with the actually dental work, either. Not a gentle touch, but I guess that's to be expected from a dentist.
If you're gonna provide sub-par dental work and force your patients to listen to your off tune "singing, eat a frickin Tic Tac before you start working, unless your breath is part of the "anesthesia".

PROS: can't think of any pros. The staff is friendly?
CONS: Mediocre Dental Work, BAD BREATH DENTIST, high prices.
