My daughter had been through 12 ear infections in a 6 month time frame. So our pediatrician recommended we see a specialist. Dr. Vaughan has done several surgeries on myself and my nephew. So it was no question as to who we would take her to. When we arraived I was greeted by name from the staff. I filled out her paperwork and within minutes we were in a room. When Dr. Vaughan came in my daughter was not exactly thrilled to see him but she let him examine her and he agreed that we needed tubes. So we had the tubes put in a couple weeks later. He was very good about putting me at ease as this was the first time she had been put to sleep. Her tubes have since fallen out and the ear infections have started again. Her pediatrician and I decided she needed to see him to see what he thought. He agreed she needed the tubes before winter time. So we go Friday morning for her second set of tubes. I love Dr. Vaughan and would defintely recommend him to anyone!

We were recommended this Specialist through our pediatrician. When we arrived at the office everything seemed like any other doctor's office. My daughter had a problem with ear wax buildup and our pediatrician (whom we not only love, but respect) thought it might be time to have a specialist check it out and see if there was some way to keep it from building up. The nurse carried us to the examining room and was in and out rather quickly. After Dr. Vaughan arrived in the room, my daughter wasn't overly thrilled to see "him", as one might expect a four year old to react. She wasn't hysterical or anything like that, but she wasn't just completely co-operating either. He spent the few minutes he in was in there, talking with me, instead of trying to put her at ease. After a few minutes and not even attempting to even "look" in her ears, saying as you can see she isn't going to let me work on her. Instead, he said we needed to set up an out patient procedure at Baptist East so that she could be put to sleep to get it done. I was taken back, as he walked from the room. I refused to set it up and instead called our pediatrician back to see if he thought that would be necessary since he has treated her since her birth. He suggested we see another specialist and sat up another appointment for us with another Dr. I would have only given this Dr. ONE star, but the doctor that we went to and ended up using, withOUT putting our child to sleep during an out patient surgery, instead doing right there in his office, said that Dr. Vaughn was a good Doctor and must have just been having a bad day. Also since our pediatrician recommended him to begin with, that gives him some credibility...... so I have raised him to two stars, but I still wouldn't recommend him! I personally think that he was understaffed, which might not be his normal way of working, but I also don't think that he should have just "expected" us to put our child to sleep for him to do the task at hand, nor should he have charged us for doing "nothing". They did call back several weeks later wanting to know if we were ready to set up the procedure it was my pleasure to inform them that I had been blessed to find a doctor who could do it without putting my child to sleep. So, if we did catch him on a bad day, "we" probably won't again anytime soon!!

PROS:
CONS: Understaffed, Did not appear child friendly
