My wife and I were separately referred to Dr. Walters for extractions by a fine local dentist and had completely satisfactory outcomes. In each of our cases there was an unusually deeply or complexly rooted tooth. My wife had her extraction under general anesthesia. I elected to stay awake. We are both fairly sophisticated dental/oral surgery patients and have had both good and bad experiences with other professionals. (I do not give a five star rating here simply because our procedures were mundane. Everything within our experience with Dr. Walters, though, was top drawer)

From personal experience I would never recommend him due to the fact he allowed a infection to go untreated after many complaints. The infection went to the jaw line and took months for the infection to clear up and the incision is slow to heal. If he would had given the proper antibiotics, I wouldn't had even gotten an severe infection. (Basically had to go to a doctor to treat the infection.) He does not listen to his customers concerns, this is why I am writing this. On top of that his staff can be rude, patronizing and had made several errors on billings. If you need a dentist that can see you 24 X 7 or need one weekends, he's not the one to choose. After my surgery, I got dry socket and it took two days to see him because he does not take emergencies appointments on weekends. He does take your calls and responds back, though. One of his staff member's is incompetent not only in billing and in filling prescriptions as well. The girl's mistake left me in pain for nearly two days because she dropped the ball sending in the form to the pharmacist. Insult to injury, I looked him up to see if he had complaints before I went to him. If you had a wonderful enduring experience great, but I would never recommend him nor pay for his services again.

Update: Could not figure out why my bottom right incision kept getting infected. Staff did not remove gauges properly. A small piece gauge was left there for over two months without my knowledge. On Tuesday (4/11/06) night I decided to investigate what appeared to be flap of skin protruding from the healed incision area. I started to pull the flap with twezers and out came a small piece of gauges about 1 1/25. This is more or likely why kept getting reocurring infections. Warning I would advise not go to this dentist.

I would not recommend this oral surgeon. He has done sloppy work and I know for a fact that he's cut a lip or 2 during surgery. Not recommended if you want your procedure safely done!
