I went to Dr Howard because my sister went to him, after years of suffering from undiagnosed Endometriosis. I didn't know who else to go to as she had been pushing me to see a specialist for so long, so I went to see him. Not only did he automatically tell me that I have both PCOS and Endometriosis before giving me any kind of internal exam (nor was I asked to give a urine test or any type of bloodwork) but he also prescribed me three different prescription medications, including an anti-depressant (without telling me it was an anti-depressant, making me spend over $100 on mood-altering pills that I am never going to take). I was rushed into everything. I went back a few days later for the ultra sound, and then had to wait several days after that to get the results, which he himself gave me and did not seem to have the skillset to point out what was what. He told me I had PCOS cysts on my left ovary, and a chocolate cyst taking over my right, and that I would have to have surgery right away. He said he would 'save as much as he could' of my right ovary, and that I would have to start on birth control right away.

I'm happy to say that was the last day I saw Dr Howard. About a month later I went to a new Dr, got a new sonogram, and the results were wonderful! While I do have PCOS cysts in my left ovary, there is absolutely no Chocolate cyst in my right. No need to have surgery. No need to be on any of the 4 prescriptions Dr Howard wanted me on. New Dr's suggestion: continue eating healthy and start working out.

Ditching Dr Howard was the absolute best decision I have ever made in my life.

I have never met a Dr. that spent more time with me and my husband. He makes you feel as though you are the only patient he has. He was a God sent. I have referred several friends to him and they all feel the same. He was the only doctor that diagnosed my problem and effectively corrected it. The other "specialists" actually caused me to be infertile. When it came down to the odds of conceiving. He told me straight out the chances. I was allowed to decide.

I went to Dr. Howard years ago because i could not get pregnant. Rather than put me through tests and explore what might be the problem he quickly began talking about in vitro fertilization. He also seemed absolutely certain that i had endometriosis and wanted me to have a laparoscopy to diagnose and treat it. I got so far as actually scheduling the procedure but never felt right about it. I finally cancelled it and never went back. I was relieved. After that a business associate of my husband's referred us to another specialist in the field. He came with glowing reviews. I called to make an appointment and was referred to the nurse. She asked why I was seeing a specialist before I'd even been to a regular GYN doctor and gave me the name of an OBGYN in Dallas that they highly recommended. He scheduled me for a hysterosalpingiogram first to see if there was a simple obstruction. Within a month I was pregnant and now have 3 grown children, all by natural conception. I had C-sections (due to pelvic spurs) and after the first one my Dr. told me that my tissue was very healthy and there was absolutely NO sign of endometriosis.

I first saw Dr. Howard after having emergency surgery in California(business trip) for a very large ovarian cyst in 1999. When I was able to get back to Dallas, I started looking for doctors that specialized in endometriosis and Dr. Howard was recommended by the AMA. Dr. Howard treats this disease extremely aggressive. It isn't fun, there are a lot of side effects, but Dr. Howard was there every step of the way. My next goal was to become pregnant so I went through several treatments, including IVF with Dr. Howard and another clinic. I didn't become pregnant with any of the infertility treatments but I firmly believe my faith and Dr. Howard were the reasons I was finally able to have two beautiful children, they are 3 and 4 years old now. I cried a lot of tears and went through many, many months of negative pregnancy tests but in the end, I became pregnant. I am not sure Dr. Howard has the best IVF program but if you need any kind of surgery, HE is the BEST! I came back to him after I had my children to have a hysterectomy. He took a lot of time to explain all of the issues regarding hormone replacement so I could make an informed decision. He explained everything to my husband and signs to watch for as signals I wasn't getting enough estrogen. Dr. Howard is very empathetic towards womens issues and I appreciate all he did for my family. I live in Florida now and haven't found a doctor here that comes close to the care I received from Dr. Howard.

I began seeing Dr. Howard because I moved to the area and needed a new gyno. Went for my annual exam and he picked up right away on the discomfort and pain I was experiencing - I was 23 and in 4 previous exams - which I was also in terrible pain - the doctors would tell me it was normal. Dr. Howard was the first who didn't say that to me. I came back to him to discuss treatment options for my PCOS. I currently take more pills than I would care to - but I my PCOS sysmptoms have gotten much better. He took the time to explain why I was being put on each pill and how it would help my PCOS. As I began the pills I had awful nausea. I was able to call Dianna (the nurse) anytime to get the medicines switched or get advice on how to alleviate the nausea.
That was in the summer - as the year went on I continued having problems/pain in my lower abdomen. In January Dr. Howard did a LAP, etc. on me. He already knew I had endometriosis from my complaints/descriptions but wanted to go in and try to laser some of if as well as get an idea of where exactly it was so we could decide on the best treatment. It has been a rough 6 months dealing with all this but I am not worried about my choice in doctors. Whenever I have questions or concerns I can ask him - he always listens and tries to answer in a way that I can understand. Dianna is always patient if I call her on the phone with a question or problem - and she always calls me back if I leave a message. I have never felt snubbed or thought they had an awful bedside mannert. No one is perfect and I strongly believe that if you are unhappy with your health and/or doctor, you should always get a second, third, etc. opinion until you feel more comfortable - your health is too important.
I feel blessed to have found Dr. Howard and I can't imagine going through this with any other doctor or staff. It has not been easy by any means and the treatments I am currently on bring difficult side effects. But he explained everything to me up front and honestly. I can go to him with a long list of questions and he answers each one honestly and encourages me to ask him as much as I need to - and more importantly, he truly listens to my concerns. He loves what he does and I am so glad I found him when I did.

I agree that as memory serves me, they were not the most empathetic people in the world, but in 1989, they had the best IVF success rate in the state.of TX. I will forever be grateful I went there, because I now have 17 yr., old twins I would never have had without Dr. Howard. For me, it was definitely worth foregoing the warm manners to focus on my objective - pregnancy. I will always be grateful for the talent and skills of this doctor, even though bedside manner was maybe not one of his finer suits.

I went to this guy two times. The first time was a big money meeting about how much all of his services were. Very expensive and minimal empathy or kindness. Staff were rude and awful and we even had great insurance and money to pay for any services. This Dr. told me he was the Dr. and he did not need any input from me when I asked him why he would put me on a certain drug without any workup (no LAP or blood work) and why he assumed I had endometreosis. I told him I did not have endo. symptoms and had a strong family history of ovarian cancer. I went to another Dr. (Dr. Doody) and had a LAP. I did not have any endo. and became pregnant without any drugs. I left Dr. Howards office crying and upset and all they did was walk away and tell me they would send me a bill. Super awful people. RUN AWAY.
