Today I received a bill from Dr. McGarvey's office saying that I owe $99.77 for an XRay they did in his office to evaluate my foot. They did not bill the insurance company for an office visit, but I paid my copay at the time of the service. However, they billed the insurance company for an out of office procedure. My insurance pays 100% for images done in the office. When I called them I was unable to get through, so I called my insurance provider and told them what happened. Aetna called them and were also placed on hold. They coded the XRay wrong. Not sure what is going on here, but it sounds like other have had the same problem. He seems like a knowledgable doctor, but he evidentially needs to do something about his billing department. I do not appreciate being treated in this manner.

Do not go to this doctor!!! After scheduling an appointment in advance, I visited Dr. McGarvey on Nov 6, 2012 and had to wait over 2 hours for the doctor to spend 5 minutes with me and provide little useful advice.

More insulting, when I originally called to schedule the appointment and when I checked in at the doctors' office, I provided my insurance information and asked how much the visit would cost. I was told at both instances that the total cost of the visit would be the co-pay (about $30). At the appointment, before seeing the doctor, I was directed to take an ex-ray of my ankle, which I explicitly said I did not want. The assistant told me it was part of the appointment and made me take it. Afterwards, I paid my co-pay and then 2 weeks later received a bill for about $300. Upon calling to discuss the bill and talking to Patty Holt (a manager), Rosy, and others, I was ignored repeatedly and told my credit record would be harmed if I did not pay it. There was almost no communication between the billing office and the doctors office and the hospital and my concerns were addressed by no one. I would avoid this doctor and Herman Memorial Orthopedics at all costs. The people are dishonest or uninformed, the service is atrocious, and the doctor is too busy to provide useful advice. The visit was the biggest waste of time and money I have experienced in my medical history. I have never written a bad review for a doctor before, but if I could give zero stars here, I would.
