I??m very disappointed about Dr. Khan and her partner, Dr. Wong. At the beginning of my pregnancy everything seemed to be going very well, but after my delivery I was very disappointed. During my 8th month of pregnancy during one of my checkups I told Dr. Khan that days before my checkup I saw some yellow spots and my blood pressure was higher than what is normal for me. She asked me if I read on the internet about preeclampsia and I said yes. Then she dismissed it, saying that my blood pressure was fine. While I was in the hospital after delivering my daughter, I got very swollen from the saline solution they (Dr. Wong and Dr. Khan) administered to me during my labor. I asked Dr. Khan if I may need a diuretic to get rid of the extra fluid in my body and she said no. At night the day I was discharged from the hospital my blood pressure was very high 150s over 90s. When I called their practice to ask what to do, Dr. Wong was on call and she told me literally ??YOU ARE HAVING A PANIC ATACK, JUST GO TO SLEEP.? Thank God my mom ignored my doctor??s recommendations and insisted I go to the hospital. I went to Union emergency room. There the ER doctor diagnosed me with post-partum preeclampsia, which Dr. Khan and Dr. Wong missed. The ER doctor tried to help me but they didn??t have the resources to help my critical situation. I was transferred to JFK where Dr. Wong couldn??t do anything for me and had to call a cardiologist to take care of my situation, by the way she never apologized for her rude words and misdiagnosis. Finally, after the cardiologist prescribed me a diuretic, and other medications, a couple of days in the ICU, and another couple of days in the CCU my preeclampsia was somewhat under control and I was released but I had to continue my medication and treatment with my cardiologist for months (about 4 months on metoprolol, and I??m still going for checkups). I just recently gathered all my medical records to go to a new OBGYN and I realized that the day Dr. Khan discharged me I had a blood pressure of 153 over 90. My new OBGYN said he doesn??t like to judge colleagues, but he said he would??ve not discharged me with that blood pressure and that he would??ve at least run blood work before releasing me.

Even though I??m extremely disappointed about the overall experience, I have to say that Dr. Khan performed a good C-section on me and I??m recovering fine from it, but based on my experience Dr. Khan and Dr. Wong don??t seem to know how to check or handle pregnancies and deliveries that have some complications. I know we all hope for a normal pregnancy and delivery but you never know when complications may arise, so I would definitely recommend you find another OBGYN and have a blood pressure meter at home. If you buy a pharmacy brand it is only $50.00
