This is the WORST Dr. I have ever come into contact with - how she has a medical degree is a wonder!! I had kidney stones during pregnancy which were diagnosed during an ER visit due to me getting terrible sick with a kidney infection. She left me throwing up, 102 fever in a room for at least 2 hours while she paraded interns in and out. I was soooo sick. I ended up in the hospital for a week on IV antibotics at 6-7 months pregnant. She never completely or fully explained my condition, just put me on low dose antibotic for the remainder of pregnancy and said I would be fine just continue to take after delivery and she would follow up from there. 3 weeks after delivery I ended up in the ER with a life threatening blockage in my kidney - while at the hospital, I fired her and got a Urologist at the recommendation of attending ER physician - I had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital for 10 days !!! I know I should have sued for malpractice, but the 2 yr window came and went before I knew it. I was very tramatized from this event and would take my pets to this woman !!

Dr. Bessent is an excellent OB/GYN! She's a straight shooter and knows her field VERY well. You're not going to get a psychological evaluation. Your appointment will NOT drag on all day. She's perfect for women who take responsibility to inform themselves first. She'll tell you statistics and resources you need to make informed decisions. She has taught me the value of educating myself first, knowing my body and listening to its needs - that's Empowering! If you can appreciate being empowered and understand that her role as a physician is to guide your medical care, your relationship with her will go far. You'll also understand where our medical system is going...

She no longer takes the time to hear me out on anything that is going on with my body. I go in for an issue and we talk more about forms of birth control than the current issue (has nothing to due with bc) you have to chase her down the hall to ask her the one question you might have spent the day think about asking her. She is in and out like a lighting blot. I feel like a complete stranger to her and she delivered my child. She is asking me basic health history she should be able to glance at my file and know. I am looking for a new OB. My last visit with her was so frustrating and a waste of my time. Her office staff is the best, but her partners are the same way.

I was 16 weeks pregnant when I moved to the area, and I knew no one, so I picked this practice out of the phone book. Big mistake. On at least 5 different occasions, Dr Bessent offended me with rude comments pertaining to my body, my choice to have my child, and various other things. She was not supportive at all when I was struggling with nursing my son, and when I became pregnant the second time she gave me her opinion (which was unfavorable) about how close in age my children would be. She was completely unprofessional and unbelievably rude. I have had several friends give her a try only to leave her office and never return. I would not recommend her to anyone.

I had seen other doctors as I was having a tough time getting pregnant. I was constantly told it was in my head. She was the first to listen to my concerns seriously, looked at all of my information, and was able to diagnose the problem. We got pregnant just two months later.

The pregnancy was pretty normal until the last trimester. I started having complications that led to pre-eclampsia. Dr. Bessent (and her co-workers) were very in tune with my case. I was put into the hospital to be watched more closely. There was one particular moment where at only 32 weeks I began contracting, my heart ached - literally, and I was scared out of my mind. It was in the middle of the night - Dr. Bessent was receiving my information at home, stayed in direct contact, and came in without hesitation.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the level of care she provided though a very overwhelming experience. There were a couple of times I thought my heart would give out, but she was on top of my case and my son and I are here today - healthy. Even when my son, a 33 weeker, remained in the NICU for a month after my release - she continued to support me, encourage me, and advise me.

She is not for the faint at heart. She is extremely direct and talks to you like your best friend, rather than just all in strict medical terms. I understand that for some, that may seem uncomfortable, but for me, I found it made talking about some of the most private things that much easier. She is vibrant, enthusiastic, honest, and extremely intelligent.

I do suggest you come to your appointments with your questions written down, or you will find that your appointment flew by and you forgot to ask them - as her personality fills the room. The staff at her office is warm and honestly care about your well being. It was a positive experience - even with it being a high risk pregnancy.

I couldn't imagine putting my life, or my baby's life, in anyone else's care.

I started seeing Dr. Bessent before I became pregnant, but towards the end of my second trimester, I decided to find someone else. Nearly each of my visits was plagued with ??miscommunications? -- despite the fact that I took notes when we were meeting and often my husband accompanied me on these appointments.

As an example, I indicated early on that I was interested in all tests that were available to me. At one point I even asked about a particular test and her response was ??NO.? Really that was it, she just said no. Later when I found out I had missed the window to have the test taken by many weeks, I asked Dr. Bessent about it. She chalked it up as a miscommunication, saying she thought that I understood she didn??t see the test as necessary given my other risk factors as though we had had an elaborate conversation about it. Thankfully my husband was there to hear the same things I did in this situation and others, or I would have questioned my sanity. Overall, I felt like I was always being rushed through and that she was never really present in our conversations.

Although I agree that most of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, I figured it was Dr. Bessent not her assistants who I would have to trust to deliver my baby, and I couldn't make that connection with her.

As a side note, I was pretty amazed when I was charged over $40 to get a copy of my (very uncomplex) medical records.
