Reviews of certain "chain" businesses (i.e. businesses with locations in multiple cities) do not count as a qualified review in the Insider Pages fundraiser program. You can write reviews of these businesses but they will not earn your organization money towards its fundraising goal.
How do we determine whether to include or exclude a chain?
Reviews of restaurant chains (McDonalds, Outback Steakhouse, KFC, etc.), gas station chains, movie theater chains and national or regional chain stores (Target, Dollar Tree, Home Depot etc.) DO NOT qualify. You are welcome to write reviews for these businesses but they will not earn your organization money for the fundraiser. Most people are pretty familiar with these businesses and there tends to be little differentiation city to city and state to state. In other words, these are businesses that do not require a word-of-mouth referral so reviews of these businesses are of little value to people like you - and to our community of users. A current list of these businesses can be found below.
We allow chains like "Allstate Insurance Agent", "Midas" brakes, and other similar service businesses because in those instances the word-of-mouth referral really is useful. Typically that is because the service received is more expensive and really depends on the individual person providing the service (e.g. "Who is your agent", "Who is your mechanic" etc.).
A representative list of excluded chains is provided below. This list is not meant to be exhaustive but should provide a clear example of the types of chains that are excluded. When in doubt ask yourself, "Would I want to read this review?"
