Cost Plus World Market
I really like Cost Plus, mostly because it is so hard to find reasonably priced items in Santa Barbara. This place has all types of cultural items, so you are certain to find SOMETHING! If you can't you can always get a gift card. They have such a variety of stuff there, from coffee, to wine, to artwork, to beaded jewelry, baskets, rugs, furniture, kitchen items, wrapping paper. You can lose yourself in there, it is so big and full of stuff.
Deborah Whitehead L.Ac.
I have been to see Deborah quite a few times for acupuncture. She is gentle and caring and has a great energy about her. She does cosmetic acupuncture, as well as 5 Element acupuncture (which, by the way is very hard to find). She is also a licensed massage therapist, although I have not had the opportunity to use her services for that.
The Yoga Studio
This yoga studio has a great atmosphere and super teachers. They also carry specialized yoga classes like Yoga Birth :-) They now, also have a store with all sorts of interesting items and a health center, of sorts, upstairs. I know they have massage therapists, and an an acupuncturist.
Postal Plus Svc & Shipping Inc
Here is a local place that does copying, faxing, printing, mailing via UPS, FedEx, and DHL. They also have mailboxes you can rent. Copies are 3 cents each with a coupon. I was particularly happy to find this place, because they are also a recycling center for popcorn and other packing materials. Friendly staff too.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
Being a foreigner, I was worried that I would be bored at this museum, but there was plenty of interesting exibits to check out. They had lots of little movies here and there that you could sit and watch. The yard outside could have been prettier, but the view was nice, and we were a little disappointed by his grave site, which seemed a bit stark to us, and tucked away in a corner, almost. They have a cafe there, staff is friendly, and of course a store full of Reagan and presidential memorabilia. Children and Seniors get good rates.
Elephant Bar & Restaurant
We took our seventy-five year old parents here for a late lunch, and they loved their food. Actually, all of us enjoyed our meals a lot. The wait was a little long, considering half the restaurant was half empty, but once we got seated, things moved smoother. Big portions, around $10 a plate, good artichoke dip. Coconut shrimp could have been better. Nice atmosphere, but not enough elephants for an elephant bar.
Target
This isn't my favourite Target in the world. Things seem messed up, the parking is usually full like most Targets but the area is not great. I've tried going to the garden area and many times it is closed. The one nice thing is that they usually have lots of cashiers so if you look around a bit, you can get out pretty quickly. I also like how you can place the credit card through the machine even before everything is scanned. It makes the process quicker.
Domenico's Italian Restaurant
This place has the most authentic Italian food that I have ever eaten. Their chicken marsala and gnocci marinara are to die for! They were voted one of the best pizza's in LA a couple of years ago. They have a very homey atmosphere and Joe, the cook/co-owner is awesome. Next time you are craving pasta, check this place out. Also, it is family owned, making them even more conscientious.
Bakers Square Restaurant & Pie
This wasn't as good as I expected it would be. You would think that pies would be awesome, since it is called "Baker's Square". It wasn't as expensive as other places, but it wasn't that great, the whipped cream was too heavy. But there was plenty of fruit. Their chocolate cake, however, is very good. I would try that over pie.
Marie Callender's
For starters, parking is just plain silly at this restaurant, you park behind and have to walk all the way around. Anyway, we went there because we are trying Banana Cream pies, in the area. So far, this was the most exensive (even with promotion) and definitely last. The whipped cream was like lead in my tummy :-(
