This is a Very Upscale and very hip childrens clothing. This winter they featured a lot of Cashmere pieces. If you want a "in" childrens item for a gift or for your child, this is THE place to check out.
CONS: A lot of the clothing items are Dry Clean Only!
This place is near Houston Street it mixes shopping AND dining. At the the serves Latin and Asian cuisine (really yummy) By day, it sells woman's clothing. Really expensive woman's clothing! and original Warhols, glam jewelry like Handmade Indian Baubles from $200-$1500. Oil paintings by Dave Brocket and Brides can design their own gowns and cakes. If you are in the neighborhood, its worth just looking at!
This store originated in Canada and recently has been moving in US here and there. Great stuff. I am addicted to their Brazilian Soap Bar (which is cut by slice like most soaps) & Lavender Face Scrub and body lotions and hair products. All are handmade with all natural incredients and they actually all have a sticker on them with an expiration date. I dont take baths but their bath bombs ( bath balls) are suppose to be "The Bomb" They are generous with samples of anything!!
CONS: Everything is so yummy you will want sooo much...
This small store is jammed with an incredible assortment of stuff. Everything from Jewelry, soaps, toys, T'Shirts, candels, Greeting Cards, small selection of clothing etc. I bought a handmade knitted cap with "Love/Peace & peace sign on it! I love it....Actually two stores but they have two doors. The other side is packed with cards, and lots of cool stuff for kids and a large assortment of repro-vintage toys and little things that we had when we were kids. A trip down memory lane just browsing here.
We almost didnt stop in here but the chocolates in window were calling to us. We first sampled their ice cream which is handmade and as my boyfriend put it "The most incredible and best ice cream he has ever had" After sample he had to buy some! In case, handmade Belgium CHocolates to die for with flavors like Almond filling with orange and walnut fragments, Double Flavored Chocolate w/Hazelnut Cream, Walnuts & Pecans over a Vanilla Cream dipped in White Chocolate. Buy a few, Buy a box, they are worth it.
CONS: You will leave gaining a few calories!
This is THE place in Manhattan to get a BAG. Now i am not talking purses or handbag. I am talking Bags!! If you are like me and need a Shoulder Canvas Bag or a Backpack or a Messenger type Bag or a DJ Bag this place is amazing. I walked in and I was like a kid in a candy store. My backpack broke on our trip and my cousin suggested this place. Their logo is a red square patch with Manhattan's Skyline on it and after I bought my bag I noticed like every third person was carrying an item from this cool place. Great prices.
CONS: Too many choices and colors you will be confused!! and want more than one..
Stayed here two times and liked it. The Gershwin offers funky, inexpensive rooms, with a fun, pop-art painted lobby . Very clean and exceedingly Bohemian this hotel has the feeling of a upscale youth hostel. Very small rooms and every floor has a different theme of original art work. Lobby has "The Red Room" in back with live music and drinks.
PROS: Still Reasonable and great location
CONS: Not much space, Bad for receiving messages.
We recently stayed here for 6 nights and loved it! I am originaly from NY and this is by far the best place Location wise and Price Wise. It is in a high rise building doors down from the Empire State building. This company has about 85 apts and growing. Basically they are apts. that have been coverted to hotel apts. for short stay or long stay. We had a one bedroom (queen bed) Kitched w/pots and pans, utencils, misc. There was a microwave, toaster, Large TV, DVD & VHS player, our own phone number (local calls were NOT extra!!!) and a cool view of 34th street and 6th avenue. We booked through Hotels.com and got an incredible price of $96.00 a night. I will never stay anywhere else if this place is available.!!
CONS: no maid service, you need towels, toilet paper etc. you go get from them.
It's really a fun place to go. We go there for almost every family occasion. The food is amazing. Try the Baked Ravioli, Spagetti and Meatballs. Tip:
the portions are HUGE so share with someone. The waiters are really fun and if you tell them its a special occasion you get to sit at the table in the kitchen and watch them make food! Okay, this might not sound like a treat, but believe me it is!
