Nancy Goldman is a great gyneocologist. Located on Robertson, Dr. Goldman is thorough in her examinations. She has a no-nonsense attitude couched in a friendly demeanor. I have had several gynecologists over the years and she is my favorite. I trusther and I feel that I am in good hands.
Stuart Kaplan is a great dermatologist. He has removed moles in a matter of seconds with hardly any pain. He is expensive, but if you have good insurance, I would definitely recommend him. He has a good bedside manner that makes you feel at ease before he cuts something off of you, and he has tools to create a scab within seconds which starts the healing process pronto.
A great shop for people who love to surf and skateboard, this store in Santa Monica sells clothes and accessories that will fit in with this lifestyle. The prices are expenisive, but the clothes are really cute and nice quality. They sell a lot of Billabong clothes and funky purses. They have seperate sections in their large store for women and men. I went into the women's section where they had a lot of funky casual clothes which made me wish I was able or willing to spend $50.00 on a sweatshirt.
Caitlin Phillips has a background in natural medicine and healing modalities since 1998. She is certified in Homeopathy, Nutripucture (cross betweeen acupuncture and homeopathy) and flower remedies, which come in soothing blue bottles. She draws from years of formal training and clinical experience, incorporating spiritual understanding in her practice. Caitlin also does nutritional consulting with Juice Plus+ supplements and healing visualization techniques.
I highly recommend her.
The MOCA store on Main Street is the perfect gift shop if you are searching for a stylish but sophisticated gift. They have everything from plates, stationery, art books, chairs, hats, jewelry, wallets, and an entire section for babies/kids. The items in the gift shop are all inspired by some exhibit that ran in the Museum of Contemporary Art. The store is definitely on the pricey side, but you can find some killer deals on their sale shelves.
This tiny sushi bar is always packed. Maybe because it is tiny- but maybe because Bob Marley posters cover the walls and Reggae music is playing loudly in the background. Their portions are generous. The sushi cut roll is especially generous; so generous that you may have a hard time shuving a piece all the way in your mouth. That is a good thing, unless you are on a first date. The sushi is very good. The restaurant is relatively inexpensive. The atmosphere is casual and fun.
The best kept secret is hiding in West Hollywood behind a small sign that reads "Power Yoga." If you head up the stairs you will stumble upon my favorite yoga studio in all of LA. This yoga studio is owned and run by Steven Earth, and his classes pack a punch with temperatures in the 90s and enough chatarungas to make you want to curse, but by the end of the challenging seesion you feel thoroughly worked-out, liberated, relaxed and most of all very, very proud of yourself. Steven believes the most important muscle in the body to work-out is the heart, which is the foundation for his vigorous fast-paced yoga session. Blending his wise yet practical lessons that apply to your particular asana (pose), Steven's instruction causes you to ponder his comments for days as you apply his teachings to your everyday life. I attended his class once a week for six months, and that alone kept me in shape!
I have been working with Final Film on a professional level for over five years. They have handled numerous poster printing, flyer printing poster mounting jobs for me under tight deadlines. High quality service does entail high costs, but not as highas other large printing houses. The account manager I have dealt with (Fern Serna) remains calm under pressure and always delivers on time.
I have been going to Pico Cleaners for six years now and even though I live in Santa Monica, I still drive to Pico and Doheny to get their cheap prices. If you get a coupon in the Penny Saver you can get a 20% discount. If you smile and are real nice, they may give you the discount anyway- wink, wink. They turn your clothes around pretty quickly and offer alterations as well.
This french patisserie is my favorite in all of Los Angeles. Inconspicously situated in a corner outdoor strip-mall, this bakery is also a cafe, serving the most delicious caprese sandwich I have ever had. There menu is reasonably priced. Their cakes have a magical appearance, reminiscent of something you would find in a Disney animated feature film. Once you take a bite, the outside appearence delivers on its promise. The other pastries, such as eclairs, muffins, macaroons, and butter cookies willtransport you to your favorite cafe in Paris. The cafe is always packed and everyone who works ther is French. They sell over-priced gifts and chandaliers, but that is all part of the charm mais oui!
