A girlfriend took me in here when she was looking for Japanese Paper (Washi) for a project she was working on. This place is full of unusual Asian gifts. Every time I pop in there is always a sale table as well. Check them out!
Parking can be a challenge because all that is offered is street parking. Also, I feel like the regulars there get annoyed that people from another neighborhood are dropping by... Too bad, public park everyone! This park is away from any busy streets and has lots of trees for shade. It is our favorite park in Glendale.
The couple of times we have visited this park have been nice. The equipment is fairly well maintained and made of durable plastic. This park is far off from any main road which makes it nice. There is a nearby library too.
I too have seen trash at this park, but nothing like the other review was talking about. This park has two play areas. The one by the skate park is much newer and better maintained. Has wood chips around the play space which safety wise is good. We avoid the other one that is made out of metal and not at all kept up. Plenty of green space here to bring a ball or game for the kids.
I enjoyed my time at OU. The town of Athens is really on the map because of the college but has all the essentials of a small town. OU is very picturesque with tree lined paths and ivy covered buildings. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. If you are planning on a visit and like to party, be sure to check out OU's infamous Halloween Party. The town literally doubles in size. Go Bobcats!
When you have a kid in a car seat, having a coffee place with a drive though window is heaven. And the coffee is pretty good, too! I've also had some of their pastries and sandwiches. I believe this stuff comes in from other nearby businesses but I was never disappointed. I understand that they have live music on the weekends and evenings. Friendly staff!
PROS: So easy with Drive Thru
CONS: Can wait for the convenience
Although I'm vegetarian, I often bring my meat eater friends here and everyone agrees that this place has the freshest, tastiest, most delicious breakfast ever. They use the best ingredients, usually organic everything. Be prepared, such love and attention to ingredients makes the menu items a little pricey then your regular diner; all I can say is that it is worth it. When you go, have the Award wining french toast. Oh and the coffee is wonderful. Do not go if you are in a hurry. Good things will come to those who wait.
PROS: Great for vegetarians, organic ingredients
CONS: Be prepared to wait for a table, small dining area
Su Van's is a favorite place to grab a coffee and muffin and read your paper on the weekends. Or to have a delicious sandwich and conversation with a friend. Everything is fresh and I have yet to be disappointed!
PROS: Fresh baked goods
Glendale seems to be void of any awesome Thai food restaurants. This is the best we've found nearby. So while it wouldn't compare to some, they deliver and are consistently good. Not awesome, but good. I usually order for dinner but I think they have some great lunch deals people should check out. Also, if you want brown rice instead, you have to pay extra! Boo!
PROS: Best Thai Delivery in Glendale
CONS: Restaurant is lacking; take it to go!
This is our local place for when we need a Sunday paper, a late-night craving for a pint of ice cream or run out of beer during a party. It is fast and convenient but the prices are that of a Quick Mart. Well stocked with liquors too but don't stop for groceries (who knows how long it's been there!)
PROS: In and out fast
