Looking for a floral arrangement for someone special? I would recommend Brad Larsen's. The shop is very cute and always get friendly service (knowledgeable people too!) Great location in Old Pasadena.

Underwood Family Farms

(Note: They have two locations) Our day at the farm was perfect start to finish. First we visited the animals (llamas, bunnies, goats, sheep) and bought a bunch of fresh carrots to feed them. Next got aboard the tractor to head out to the fields to pick blueberries. This task was fun for my 3 year old and her grandma. Best tasting blueberries ever (yes, you can sample in the fields!) When we had our fill of picking we headed back to the market to pick up more fresh fruits and vegetable and another bunch of carrots for the animals. Perfect half-day outing. Call ahead to check weather conditions.

Casa Verdugo Public Library

This is a favorite destination for my daughter. Upstairs is the children's area and you'll have no trouble finding it as there is a gigantic tree hanging above the reading area. Be sure and check their website for days and times of age specific activities. We've gone to both story time and play time and have been delighted.

PROS: Great for Kids
CONS: Check the parking signs! Don't get a ticket!

Zinke's Shoe Repair

First used Zinkes at their Pasadena location. I was so excited when I found out they were also in Glendale! And same great service and expertise. I am particularly impress with what they do with men's dress/business shoes. After a shine there, they look brand new!

Nu Way Cleaners

There happen to be a couple of dry cleaners in this particular area and this is the one my family uses. Prices are reasonable, service is OK and items return clean. If you are in a rush, save your trip to this cleaners for another time; you may have to wait.

Pacific Medical Pharmacy

No longer my pharmacy!

After faxing in a prescription around noon, I went to pick it up a 6pm. I was then informed that "they didn't have it." I'm not sure why in the 6 hours in between no one called me to let me know. Had to find a pharmacy open who would fill it last minute.

Joniciue Cosmetic & Aesthetic Center

I was very leery when I got to the address because the outside looks a little dodgy. Once upstairs, I was a little more relieved; effort was taken inside the office to decorate and make you comfortable. The staff was always nice. My friend and I had a special package to try a wide variety of services. After my girlfriend broke out in a rash (she thinks due to them using inexpensive cosmetic supplies), we decided not to return.

Papyrus

This is a great place to find adorable gifts for thank you presents or general occasions for those "hard-to-buy have-everything" types. I also go here for extra special cards; when I want to go above and beyond Hallmark. You definitely have to pay extra for the quality of the cards and gifts though.

Call before you go because you never know when there might be a line. Otherwise, I have nothing but great things to tell you about Great Nails. Always an expert job. I always get a pedi and usually french on my hands. You won't be sorry you gave them a try!

Being an executive assistant, I'm always looking for reliable service with affordable costs. This is exactly what Dial 7 offers. They are very good about accommodating you even at the last minute. I usually make reservations on the phone but the on-line service looks easy to do to.
