Old Navy

Great store, if you like the Gap but you don't want to spend as much money come here. I opened up a charge card and I got %10 percent off my purchase and then they mailed me coupons and other rewards. I always find a couple shirts for really cheap andthey have great cargo shorts for under $15. Great deals.

Long Beach Aquarium Of Pacific

This is a wonderful aquarium. Probabaly the best in Southern California. It cost about $18 to get in but it's worth every penny. They have wonderful exhibits and there is plenty of information about all the fish and the habitat. Check out the jelly fish exhibit and the sea horses. You'll fall in love with the variety of styles and mannerisms of them. The shark exhibit could be a bit better, I feel like it's a little over rated, but overall a wonderful aquarium. Come early and spend the day here. Then walk around Long Beach downtown.

Blockbuster Video

No can do on this place. First of all why is blockbuster even around anymore. The selections are so poor and limited that it's a waste of time to go. The only movies they always have in stock are the horrible "blockbuster movies" that most people have already seen. To top it off the staff is always apathetic and you feel like you're asking for $100 from them if you ask one question. Negative, negative don't go.

Rite Aid

This isn't a bad pharmacy as long as you call in your prescription before you pick it up. Compared to other Rite Aids this is probably the best. It houses the biggest selection of common medications and to me the most knowledgable pharmacists. They also seem to respect your privacy, that seems to be a problem these days. Friendly staff and fair prices.

Norton Simon Museum Of Art

This is a top quality museum. I would rate it one of the best in Southern California. If you haven't been here you need to check out the permanent collection and the beautiful "zen" garden. This is very easy to get to in Pasadena and there is always plenty of parking. The museum is wide and open and there is plenty of viewing space. You never feel rushed or stared at by the guards. Beautiful collection of modern art and some ancient artifacts as well. Don't miss this museum.

Bally Total Fitness

Not a bad place to work out. When I think of the ideal gym I just want some quality machines and plenty of them. I hate going to a gym when it's not even that crowded but all the equipment is taken. Don't come here right after work unless you're hereto mingle. The best time to come is in the morning and late at night. Very helpful and knowledgable staff. Get free consultations on your very own workout. Lots of classes too but very crowded. Overall a good gym.

Trader Joe's

I love this market. It's my number one place to shop. I am the primary grocery shopper in my family and I love that this place is small, well organized with super friendly staff and very cheap, healthy food. Try the sorbets and the chocolate covered caramels. Great tortillas and breads too. I'm a huge fan.

Pier 1 Imports

I never used to come to these home stores as much as I do now that I'm married. I rate this high on the scale mostly because of the eclectic merchandise they carry. You can find some modern,Asian, Indian, African and Latin American style furniture on in one stop. They have a really well organized candle section and they have lots of dishes and barware for fairly low prices. After Christmas alot of their ornaments are on sale and they have loads of goods at %50 to %75 off. Check it out, great partyideas.

Ikea

A fair and reasonable place to get furniture for an apartment or a casual room in the home. This particular Ikea is just off the 405 in Carson. You can see it from the freeway and it's just as huge inside. It's fun because when you walk in you kind of have to walk thru the entire store to get to the cash register. It's kind of like a huge maze and you just follow the path all the way out. Since it's like that, you end up buying more things than you need. They have really great ideas for decorating and putting together a "budget minded" home. Great deals.

Cost Plus World Market

Here is a great store with lots of unique items from coffee from around the world, to furniture from India. They have lots of novelty items and candy and they have bed and bath goods and wrapping paper. You'll never know what surprise you may find butit's always something fun and exciting. I like coming here for birthday cards and chocolates. They have a food area with pastas, teas and coffees. Sometimes they have sample coffees to try. Great store perfect for building a picnic basket or puttingtogether an anniversary gift.
