Old Vienna Strudel Company
Very nice bakery if you're looking for a truly traditional pastry. These baked goods are not what you would get at Entemanns and they are really very unique and as far as I'm concerned "home made". This is a family owned bakery and the owners are veryfriendly and proudly explain each of their pastries in a very descriptive manner. All of the items are a bit pricey but it's worth paying to support the local baker. Give it a try, it's not often you get to try real Austrian strudel.
Barnes & Noble Booksellers
An overall nice, trusty book store with loads of information and wall to wall books set up in an easy and convenient manner. Good store to come to when you need a gift for someone and you don't know what to get them. A gift certificate is always enjoyed and the person is sure to find something here. They also have great sales and they have lots of staff ready to assist you at all times. Very relaxing setting and reasonable prices.
Pottery Barn
Great store for nice furniture ideas. Some of the merchandise is really different but you can often get the same styles for lower prices at wearhouses. Beautiful rugs and blankets and nice neutral colors and great ideas for blending shades in the home. Some really cute ideas for childrens rooms and adorable toys for low prices all the time. Check out the play kitchen set, so cute but a little too pricey. Great gifts for weddings and more.
Crate & Barrel
This is a wonderful store to come when you're just starting out your new home and you need ideas and need housewear. They have great displays of kithens, bedrooms, bathrooms and dens. The colors are usually bold and sturdy and they have hefty dishes and cooking wear that seems to last a long time. I was given a gift certificate for my wedding and I am still enjoying coming here to pick out unique items for my home. Some of the prices are high, but they usually go on sale and if not it's worth the price. Nice quality merchandise. Great store.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
This place has fair coffee. If you need a cup of joe and there is no where else to go you're better off coming here rather than 7-Eleven. Don't be fooled by the cute decor and the name, the coffee isn't that great. To be honest I'm not a fan of any chain coffee restaurant but if you're going to pay more for a cup of coffee don't waste you money here. Try it for yourself. They even have overly sweetened iced drinks. Yuck. If you really appreciate coffee, don't do it.
Port's O' Call Village
Nice area to come to for an afternoon of walking around in the sun and enjoying the harbor and all it's treats. Some nice music as well and great and low priced places to eat some good seafood. Bring the kids because they'll love watching the boats and the people working on the docks. A cute getaway from the hectic Los Angeles traffic and smog.
County of LA Page Museum
A nice museum for the family. This museum sits in a nice area at the La Brea Tar Pits. It is rather small but houses some nice fossils and some great replicas of extinct mammals. They have an outdated video show but the information is pretty interesting. Some interesting interactive exhibits where you can feel how strong and sticky tar is and some great peaks at scientists at work. A nice place to come for a bit of knowledge and you don't need a lot of time.
Miller Honda Culver City
Wonderful place to come. The next time I buy a Honda I'm coming here no doubt. This place is very easy to get to and there is ample parking for free! The staff and mechanics are very helfpul and very eager to give you any information about your car or standard care ideas. Affordable prices and look for the coupons and specials they offer. If you get in good with the staff you may be able to wheel and deal a good price on your check ups.
Urban Outfitters
OVER RATED! Way over rated and not worth the money on most items. Every no and then you can find a clearance item and even then it's not so clearance it's just the price it should have originally been. Please go in and check it out for yourself because you will see that the clothes are poorly made. The material is thin and cheap and the stiching often comes apart and is uneven (not in the cool way). Nice shoe section but I just can't support this highly over priced store. Still good idea.
Puma
This store is pretty nice but to be quite honest it tends to portray Puma in a phony and too trendy manner. First of all the staff are dressed very urban sheik and they seem to act as though the Puma was invented for them. They aren't very helfpul andseem to be more concerned with their sales than your satisfaction. Still I really enjoy the actual shoes they sell and they've got some really great sweatsuits so I do venture into the store everytime I'm in the area. Check it out for yourself becausethey do have great products.
