Michelle's Tailor
I do not recommend going to Michelle's Tailors in Noe Valley. Michelle is incredibly rude and hostile toward customers. I recommend that you go somewhere else even if you have to travel olutside of the neighborhood. Life is too short to deal with people like this!
John Mickelson Photography
John is a great photographer and has a long track record of success. He has worked with some of Silicon Valley's leading high tech companies as well as various consumer businesses on product shots, location/interior shots, executive portraits, and other corporate photography needs. He has a wonderful eye and is very patient and puts people to ease with his charming, easy-going personality. I highly recommend John for your corporate photograhpy needs. Refer to www.mickelsonphotography.com.
Angel's Nails
Head to outer Noe Valley on Church Street for a great walk-in manicure and pedicure at Angel's Nails. The price is right ($18 I think for both) and so is the quality. Manicures tend to last me a good week or more when I go to Angel's Nails. The staff is friendly too and deliver really nice hand or foot massages with the manicures or pedicures.
Elevations Salon & Cafe
Go see Henrik, the owner and principal of Elevations of Hair Salon, if you are ready for a great, precise hair cut. Henrik works quickly but magically. Prices are not cheap but he's worth it! Also, while you get your hair cut you can order a little something from the Elevations Cafe. The salon is very conveniently located near the Sutter/Stockton Garage and Union Square.
Myrna Elgie
Recently repainted? Not sure what to do with all of those prints any more with your new look? Call up Myrna Elgie. She will come (with a helper if you request or she feels it is necessary) and take a look at what you've got. Then she will come back and rehang your collection. She'll breathe new life into your walls and make you see things anew. Plus she'll actually hang things straight and on the first try (something I am never able to do!) so you can protect those freshly-painted walls of yours.
Raymond Cheung
Raymond Cheung provides both acupuncture and chiropractor services to your aches and pains. Located conviently to the Marina on Lombard Street, Dr. Cheung uses an array of traditional and modern techniques to help his patients heal and relieve them of their pain. He is also friendly and funny! I highly recommend him!
Michael Melcher
Harvard and Stanford-educated Michael Melcher takes career and life coaching to a new level. He is highly insightful and works with a range of clients -- from those in career transition to those wanting more creativity in their everyday lives. He also provides college and testing preparation. He is based in NYC but can work with clients in any location. I highly recommend him!
John Lum Architecture Inc
John Lum is a wonderful architect who does both residential and commercial projects. He has designed the interiors of numerous commercial spaces in San Francisco (AsiaSF, Hayes & Wine, others). He has a great contemporary style and is very patient with his clients. I highly recommend him!
Koret Health & Recreation Center
The Koret Center has a great indoor Olympic size pool with a moving bulkhead. They have one of the best Master's swim programs around. The facility also has a basketball court and some cardio equipment but I mainly am recommending it for the pool. The Koret Center is part of the University of San Francisco. For those not affiliated with USF or who do not live in the immediate neighborhood, admission is restricted to certain hours. You need to buy a pass which is approximately $5/entry (although occasionally they have sales).
Richard Scwarzenburger
Richard is an amazing gardener with a wonderful sense of balance and color. He has a really deep knowledge of plants. Besides his gardening, he also writes occasional gardening articles for an East Bay paper as well as the SF Chronicle. My garden is all the better for having known Richard!
