Located a few blocks from downtown SB on a side street, this florist has a large showroom with lots of light streaming in from the huge glass storefront. Inside you will find a wide selection of arrangements both live and fresh cut, as well as large orchids in season, houseplants, and more. Call them up to order a special delivery for a loved one or stop in to browse and let the staff help you pick the perfect bunch of flowers to take home!
I've used these cleaners for a last minute cleaning and alteration for a special event, and they delivered as promised for a good price. You can usually find coupons for these guys in the local papers/ads/junk mail and its well worth it when bringing a large load or big special item like a comforter. Several locations make it easier to pick one near your home or work for convenient pick ups and drop offs. Friendly staff is willing to aswer questions
PROS: Several locations...
If you are one of the many who need to pass their clothes through some type of chemical dry cleaning process, you may as well save the earth and yourself a bit by frequenting this cleaner. Their process is supposed to be less harmful than other cleaners, and these days that can't be a bad thing! Also you can usually find coupons for all different types/combos of garments in the local ads and junk mail, so make sure to bring some if you go regularly or have a special large item like a bedspread. Easy to park and pick up or drop off after hours in the super conveniet drop box!
PROS: Great location, coupons, friendly service.
CONS: Can be expensive like all cleaners!
Both vets at this practice are well known in SB and many locals board their pets at the pet hotel when they travel. The facility is clean and neat, staff is friendly, and office is stocked with many typical vet brands for purchase. It was a bit dissapointing for someone of a fairly natural nutritional approach to feeding my dog that the vet I spoke to knew nothing about alternate brands of dog food than those he was "pushing" in the lobby ,and he was a bit rude in shoooting down my questions. I am not choosing to have my small dog spayed here because I was not convinced that it is my best option for the high price quote of over $300, but it is fine for regular concerns and shots, labs, etc..
In this area of the coast, it is often very difficult to find good quality car repair that is prompt and cost effective. When my radiator blew out over a big holiday weekend, these guys were able to get me a new radiator installed for $300 and change out the door, and had it done for me almost immediately the next day when part came...I would highly recommend them to friends in the future for radiator problems for all cars...I saw a Ferrari there today when I drove by!
PROS: Convenient location, work held tight!
The owner Jason used to work for Montecito Pet Shop Groomers and is very experienced and well known around town. He wisely opened his own business in the recent past and I highly recommend his services. For dogs large and small, drive into the Post Office plaza and park right in front of his storefront. The shop is clean and uncluttered and your dogs will come out smelling wonderful and looking the best!
PROS: Easy location, friendly staff.
Join the morning masses as they migrate from their homes to this cute little spot that draws in young and old for coffee drinks, delicious fresh scones, muffins, and pastries. Or try something from their breakfast and lunch menus when you have more of an apetite. Service has known to be slow in the past when they are slammed and often I've had strange difficulty ordering daily specials, but most of the time this great bakery aims to please and hits the target.
PROS: Fresh selections daily, wonderful scones!
CONS: Hard to park when busy, try for a nearby street spot and avoid the rush.
I used a coupon from my local phone book to get my Jeep smogged here and was satisfied overall...unfortunately for me, even though I was up front about a missing gas cap and purchased one to prevent and auto fail on visual inspection, they failed me anyway for some irrelevant piece that they could have seen without the entire emmisions test. So I paid for the smog because I was convinced it passed besides the piece and if i came back it would be a free retest. I was unable to come the next morning as i was waiting for the replacement piece and so they recharged me for a "free retest" . This all took place over a holiday weekend and they could easily have made an exception and helped a poor girl out. I would try somewhere else next time to compare.
Stop by this long famous bakery and grab some loaves to go or stay for a sandwich or a pastry at one of their small tables and watch the traffic in Loreto Plaza for a while. This bakery delivers its to-die-for bread to many local businesses so if you have been trying to find that delicious plain bread from Petrini's, look no further! Its tucked into the corner of the Plaza so walk around between Chaucer's and Wherehouse if you are lost...
PROS: Easy parking, delicious bakery items.
CONS: Slow to get sandwiches when they are swamped!
Even if you are not a cool college student attending UCSB in Isla Vista you can still live vicariously just by sitting in their midst at this wonderful gem of a coffee shop. Offering a wide selection of delicious shakes and coffee drinks, pastries, bagels, and other great specials you can't lose! And for the kid in you, treat yourself to some candy from the self serve bins sold by weight. Sit outside or near an open window for the best view and culture sapping potential, and after you've had your fill, take a walk around town and head down to the beach by way of several staircases along Del Playa Street. Have fun!
PROS: Great food and drinks on the go or grab a seat!
CONS: Hard to park nearby on a busy day in IV!
