I went to Northwest Outpatient Care for a barium swallow a few years ago. They were very helpful and understanding. I was very nervous about the exam, especially since I thought I was pregnant. I raised those concerns and they took every caution to confirm I was not pregnant. I was very nervous about the exam still, and the technicians were very understanding, walking me through the procedure. I would recommend these services to anyone who needs them, although I hope no one will.
I went to a physician at PacMed for my yearly women's exam. The staff were helpful and considerate, but I won't be using these physicians for my long-term care. When I brought up other concerns unrelated to my reason for visiting, the physician seemed too busy to care. My husband had a cold and went to the same doctor and he shared my impression of her. Maybe the other doctors or specialists are more helpful, but my experience with PacMed wasn't something to write home about.
As a new student at the University of Washington, when I felt sick I went to Hall Health because all the advisors and students told me to. The staff there were not helpful at all! I had mononuclueosis and they weren't able to diagnose it. They just took my temperature and did a strep test, informed me I didn't have strep, and told me to go home and rest. Well, I did that and it didn't work. My small-town emergency room was much more helpful, they did a few tests and diagnosed my mono in a few hours. Hall Health is good for immunizations and stuff, but if you're really sick, go to a real medical practice.
I went to Dr. Latha Brubaker at Family Medicine at Carkeek Park and was very pleased with the care she provided. I was having some pain that I couldn't really describe but she was able to help stop it. She gave me some trial medication and arranged for an internal exam (barium swallow) to figure out what was wrong. My pain stopped soon thereafter. I am indebted to this practice and I highly recommend them.
We bought our mattress from Designer's Warehouse and it's great! It was a good price too and they were very helpful to us. The only downside was that it took FOREVER to get it in, and they didn't even deliver it. We also ordered a bedframe from this business and it took so long to come in that we had to cancel it. They have a great selection and three stories literally filled with tons of furniture. We practically napped on the mattress to make sure we liked it and they didn't mind at all. If we need another piece of unique furniture we'll probably go back.
This photographer did my engagment photos and some family photos a few years ago and I was very pleased. She made the photo session fun and memorable. She was open to our suggestions on poses and did a variety of serious and fun photos. We used an engagment photo for our wedding invitation and I fall in love with the picture every time I see it. When it came time to find a wedding photographer, I wanted her, but she only does portraits. Great for senior pictures too.
When I was planning my wedding in my small hometown I interview with Still Images, but my husband and I decided to go a different way. The style just wasn't to our liking. Still Images is very formal and prescribed, and it didn't seem that he would capture the day the way we wanted, beyond the posed pictures of the bridal party and family. As well, the packages seemed too expensive for our budget. If you want forma pictures, go with Still Images, otherwise try someone else.
Growing up I would always go to Gimre's for my shoes, and now that I live in the big city I miss the small town personable and helpful style of Gimre's. They know shoes! Gimre's carries a wide variety of shoes both formal and everyday. The staff are consistent and attentive to the perfect fit. It's a little pricey, but if you can go the extra dollar, I highly recommend it because you'll probably wear the shoes for years to come. I know I do.
Link's is a great option for outdoor items for the small town of Astoria. They carry a multitude of items for both sports and outdoor supplies. They have way more stuff than a Fred Meyer and the service is more personal and helpful. The staff really know what they're talking about. The prices are competitive, but they will get you exactly what you want even if they don't carry it they will special order it for you. On the main drag of the town too so it's easy to find.
When I was growing up, Lamping Photography was always there to photograph sports teams and senior portaits. She as an artistic eye, but it seems very formal and prescribed. When I was choosing a wedding photographer I wanted someone who would capture the day, not pose us perfectly. So that's why I passed on Lamping for my wedding. But if you want a "picture perfect" look, Lamping is a good choice.
