Prospect Enrichment Preschool

All three of my sons attended this non-religious preschool located in the basement of a church. There are several positive elements to this program - first, the curriculum is child centered and encourages the social emotional growth of the children. The tuition is reasonable and financial aid is available, as are family support services. Additionally, some transportation to and from the half day sessions is available. I would highly recommend sitting in on a session if you are in the market for a pre-school.

Madrona Playfield

Seattle, WA Parks & Playgrounds | 08/07/06: 'A Nice Neigborhood Park'

This is a great park for small children. The children's play equipment is safe and has comfortable seating for adults, plus a basketball court, tennis courts and a small play field. There are also restrooms and a shelter house that is available for rental. Most of the children there are elementary aged or younger and parents are often protective if older children are also playing. This is also the site for several community festivals during the year.

Money Mart

Seattle, WA Loan Brokerage | 08/07/06: 'Good Place to Cash a Check on Sundays'

Of the few places I have had to cash a check at on a weekend, this is the best. I've never encountered a long line and they provide a number of services, including payday loans, tax returns and western union transfers. They also have a great rate on pre-paid non-personalised visa cards, which I've found are a safer way to shop on the Internet.

Mounger Pool

Seattle, WA Swimming Pools | 08/07/06: 'Heated Salt Water Pool Swimming'

Atop Magnolia hill, "Pop" Mounger pool is a great place for family swims and children's fun and features heated (and chlorinated) salt water. Mounger offers two pools, a small warmer water pool for young children and parents and a larger for lap swim and the corkscrew slide. The cons to this swim area are that on warm days the pool sessions sell out quickly, all who enter must pay even if not swimming and swim sessions are short, sometimes only 90 minutes. This pool is accessible by Metro Transit route #24 from downtown. Restaurants, grocery stores and a children's playground are also nearby.
