These people were speed demons. By the time I had chosen a magazine and was almost done with my first article, my car was waiting for me in the parking lot. That's it? That's it, they replied. They had changed my oil, inflated my tires and replaced all fluids in that short amount of time.
Beforehand, they had answered all my automotive questions and gave me more information that they thought I should know.
A definite quick and easy experience...and my car is running great.
I love Trader Joe's. They have a great variety of food from all over the world and at great prices to boot. I love the freshly prepared section of food (sandwiches and salads) and frozen food section. And where else can I buy GOOD tasting, freshly made (not preservative infused) pizza dough, and top it off with the bands of cheese and proscuittio that I used to buy in Italy.
They have a good selection of dried fruit and trail mixes. And if you round the back corner of the store, there's usually food samples you can try. I've been introduced to many delicious foods that way.
Sometimes the aisles get crowed, but it's worth the scramble. To top it off, like all Trader Joe's, the staff is always friendly and helpful.
This Borders has a great selection, is well organized, has ample sitting arrangements including in the cafe, and also has helpful and knowledgeable staff. I have never had a bad experience at this book store.
Once, when I was looking to branch out into a different type of novel to read, the employee asked me what type of movies/tv shows I liked then found a wide range of authors that would interest me. I was happily introduced to 2 new genres. I believe this employee went out of his way to help me find what I was looking for and was not the only time one of the employees have done so.
I recommend signing up for their email newsletter as you can save 10-25% off the normal prices with their e-coupons. If you're an avid reader, those coupons really help.
With their service and selection, this is one of the better book stores I've visited.
This Michaels store is very large and has a great variety of products. There are many items to make crafts with, however I always find, as with any Michaels store, the oil paint section lacking. I prefer to go to more specialized art stores for those items.
If you're into crocheting/knitting, this is the place to go as the yarn section has a variety of yarn and colors. It also has a pretty decent section of how-to books in this field too.
Don't forget to grab the 40-50% coupon from the Sunday LA Times. I like using the coupon to buy art project kits for the kids. They love them.
If the kids think history is great and exciting, so do I. Hey, I think the dinosaur skeletons are pretty cool myself. They look forward to the butterfly pavillion every year - and unlike they first thought - the butterflies are not beautifully preserved in a glass case, but free-fluttering in a pavillion on the museum's lawn.
As for price, can Disneyland beat a FULL year of learning, art and fun for a family of five for only $48 (the price I paid)? Hardly! Try just getting one Disney ticket for that price. The Natural History Museum membership is definitely worth more than the price they charge for an annual membership. Don't forget, they have family fun days and great rotating exhibitions too!
This is a great place to get anything Halloween related. They have costumes, wigs, hats, makeup, decorations, and a big prop section.
The sales people were especially helpful in showing me what items I need for special effects makeup and what items that I really don't need even though the packaging says that I should get it. And they were right. It saved me a bundle of money.
And that's where I also find one con, the prices aren't as cheap as I'd hope they were. Especially since the costume is only going to be worn for one night. What I recommend is supplementing your own wardrobe with their great selection of props and accessories.
I love a great deal. This place is clean, uncrowded aisles and has a vast selection of products - from home and gardening to groceries. When was the last time you paid $1 for a whole bag of avocados?
Besides the fresh fruit they have (for only 99 cents), I like to buy the plants and the pots. I've seen the same items go for much more at Osh and Home Depot. The benefit at those places is the advice they can give, but that's what google is good for too. As a result, I have nature inside my home as well as outside.
The best thing this 99 cent store is good for is holiday decorations. You can get tons of quality decorations - no matter what holiday - for just 99 cents (sometimes even 2 or 3 items for 99 cents).
If you are on a budget, this is the place for you. It's also for you if you want specialty items that was just overstocked at other stores like that flamin' hot sauce, those french brioche's, or those german crackers. Yeah, they got those too.
Not all 99 cent stores are of this quaility. Make sure this is the one you visit.
I went to this place becuase my friend said it was cheap and good. I found out for myself that it was simply cheap.
The place was hardly a day spa. There were kids running making lots of noise in the waiting room. The atmosphere was of a children's dental clinic.
I went in for a waxing and told the person the shape I wanted. Unfortunately for me, she said, "No, this is a better shape." Before I could argue, she slathered on the wax and RIP! And once one side is done, the other has to look the same so what could I do? Once done, I was quickly ushered out. The visit was painful and I regret settling for just a cheaper price rather than reasonably priced for great service.
I only recommend this place for people on a budget and can withstand pain.
I am always satisfied with their work and since I have to alter almost every one of my pants, I've seen thier work often. Their prices are very low and the tailors are willing to do rush jobs for a little extra money. I have even seen young ladies twirl around proudly in beautiful prom dresses that they've sketched themselves on lined paper and given to the seamstresses to create. These people are very good at what they do.
Be aware that they are quite honest. The lady who I always like to work on my stuff once said bluntly, "You should return this. It doesn't look good for your body shape. I can make it look good, but you might as well buy a new pair for the price it'd take to remake." That was a paraphrase, but you get the idea. What I do know now as a result is what flatters my body type. That information is priceless.
This place has great machines, but I've found that quite a few of the stationary bikes are not well maintained. I felt like I was playing musical chairs trying to find one that pedalled well, took a correct account of my speed, and was able to monitor my heart rate.
The center is also very busy during lunch and after work. I found that I had to work my fitness routine around what machines were available.
On the otherhand, the people and staff are friendly and helpful and the classes are great.
