It is rare to find a decent game store, or a decent comic shop, or a decent place to buy anime. Source is a world class outlet for all three! If you can't find what you need here, then there is no point looking!
They have a huge selection of boardgames, roleplaying games, minatures, comics, trade paperbacks, and videos. Plus they have a game area that is always packed with people playing card, board, and miniatures games.
PROS: World class Game, Video, and Comic books store.
CONS: A bit cramped...
Huge selection, ample play areas, and a knowledgable and friendly staff. All the great components of a great game store and Games Plus has it all in spades!
Specializing in boardgames, minatures games, roleplaying games and collectable card games, you'll be hard pressed not to find something to your liking. Games Plus also has a huge game room where you can bring in your own games to play on their huge tables.
Game Plus also has a great auction twice a year where you can pick up used, rare, and out of print games, or you can sell your unwanted games for store credit!
I'd have to say Games Plus it the best game store in the Chicago area, and the second best in the US after The Source in Minneapolis.
PROS: Huge Selection, Friendly Staff, Special Orders
CONS: A bit disorganized.
We have been eating Wayne's pizza since we moved to Grayslake 5 years ago. It is very good pizza. Wayne's has a nice sized menu with carryout, delivery or dining in options. Pizza is their specialty and you can get it thin crust, double decker or pan. We prefer thin but the others are great too. Also on the menu are vienna beef hotdogs, italian beefs, burgers, pasta dishes and a ton of different appetizers. They have a great lunch crowd due to the 2 slices of pizza and a drink deal. Wayne's is also great because they have a small ice cream shop on the other side of the small restaurant. It is perfect for after a game place or for a birthday party.
This is one place where I can honestly say that the italian beefs are way better than the pizza. I get the beef every single time when we go to dine in but I am always very disappointed in their pizza. Potesta's is missing out on something when it comes to their pizza's. I think it ois the quality of the crust. To me the crust and sauce are the two key ingredients to a good pizza pie. The beef on the other hand is the total bomb! They use really good lean beef and top it on a delicious toasted italian roll. It is a huge beef..enough for two to share. The breadsticks are to die for but the pizza is less than stellar.
Man if you like ribs Hillery's is the place to go. The hot and mild bbq sauce is to die for. If you like spicy go spicy if you like mild you are still going to get spicy. The bbq sauce has that much kick! The ribs are slow cooked over charcoal like it should be. They are not oven baked because real ribs should be over charcoal. They do not have a dine in option so everything is to go. Their coleslaw is awesome but it is the soft white Wonder bread and golden deep fried fries that are to die for. You can also get fried fish but it is the ribs that they are famous for. Use a big and get plenty of wet napkins before you eat!
Over the weekend hubby and I decided to try a different pizza joint just for a change of pace. Ick....what a huge mistake! I ordered an Italian Beef with cheese and a large thin crust half pepperoni pizza. The delivery came right on time but it was the food that ruined everything. I can honestly say it was the worst pizza we have ever had. The italian beef was very boring, no flavor at all. The pizza reminded me of school cafeteria pizza. The cheese was disgusting. It reminded me of laminated cheese. You could basically pick up one huge layer of cheese at once. We ended up throwing it all away. It was so bad that our kids wouldn't even touch it!
Grinders is fairly new but already one of my favorite coffee places. They always have delicious coffee brewing throughout the day and make made to order coffee beverages as well. I love their lattes and frappacino's too. They have a very small but nicely decorated eating area. They have good bagels and egg sanwiches and pastries for breakfast and great sandwiches, salads and soups for lunchf and dinner. They have decadent desserts that are to die for. I love their freshly baked cookies and brownies but they have tons of cakes and pies as well. If you area in downtown Grayslake I would recommend Grinders cafe.
I have been eating Quonset pizza for as long as I can remember. They are a family owned business located right off of Grand Avenue. Quonset makes only thin crust pizza and it is delicious. They make their own sausage so everything is always fresh. I love the pizza but it is their famous italian sausage bombers that is my favorite. They serve it on awesome toasted french bread with mozzarella cheese (optional) and red sauce. Hot peppers are accompanied by it as well. They have a very limited menu so you know how fresh everything is. They now carry italian beef (very good) and salads for the weight conscience. The place gets packfed but everything moves quickly so it is worth the wait if you have too.
PROS: Awesome pizza
I like Tacos El Norte because it is pretty decent Mexican food for a very low price. It is a family owned business and have locations scattered in Illinois and a couple in Wisconsin. I would highly suggest getting their awesome chips and salsa. Just a warning that sometimes the salsa is super spicy. They serve authentic mexican beers and make some good margaritas as well. Some of my familys favorites are the chicken and steak tacos on corn tortilla, the tostadas and the huge burritos. Their quesadillas are pretty good as well. tacos El Norte does not take credit cards or accept checks so bring cash.
PROS: Good food...good price!
I love Mitch's restaurant because it is a family owned place. the owners and their children are fantastic and are always super friendly. The owners really appreciate their customers. The food is so good and very affordable. I highly recommend the gyros and italian beef and Mitch's Vienna beef hotdog Chicago style. They have tv's in every corner of the eating area with sports on and there is a great little video game area as well. Another great thing about Mitch's is that kids get free ice cream cups or cones with sprinkles after tehy are done eating. It is really good icecream too.
