Blue C Sushi
I wrote a review some time ago for the Fremont Blue C, which we love. We were so excited when they put one in University Village - closer to home! Boy, were we disappointed. The food and decor is the same, but that is where it ends. The staff is snooty and the clientele are snobby, pretentious and overly made up. I guess we should have known that this would be just another snobby University Village eatery.
PROS: good food
CONS: nobby, pretentious
Himitsu Teriyaki
My son wanted to try this place because the name means "Hidden" Teriyaki. It was inexpensive, very good and kid friendly. We really like Japanese food and although there are many teriyaki places around, not all of them are good. We will definitely go there again and will take friends too.
PROS: Price, Taste, Kid Friendly
CONS:
Seattle Auto Svc Ctr
I have used this shop twice, and both times they have kept my car for a very long time. I don't have an extra car and it was a big problem for me. I think they are nice, but under staffed. My bill was pretty high also and I don't think I will use them again.
PROS: Good location, Nice
CONS: slow, pricey
Johnson's Auto Repair
These mechanics were very accommodating of my need to have my car looked at quickly. They fixed it fairly fast and told me it was a minor problem. There were no substantial parts to pay for, but my bill was still $150. I thought that seemed a little high for a minor problem...
PROS: Quick service
CONS: fairly high price?
Chaco Canyon Cafe
We always have trouble finding good small cafes that don't feel too hip or pretentious. Chaco Canyon is wonderful. The food was excellent, the small space was cozy, the staff seemed like they were the owners, the prices were good and we were able to accommodate my son's vegan girlfriend! We will go back
PROS: Cozy, Excellent Food, U district
CONS: none!
Living Color Beauty Hair Salon
My daughter has very fussy hair. One shop I went to with her did a lousy job and their excuse was that she has "Ethnic" hair. I took her to Living Color and they were wonderful! Not only did the stylist refuse to give her a permanent relaxer because she was too young, but she did the best flat iron we have ever gotten. This place is great!
PROS: Responsible stylists, fair prices
CONS: kind of far south if you live in the north
Wal-Mart
The one and only time I stepped foot in this place I knew something was wrong. How could they be so cheap??? Well, at everyone's expense, especially smaller family owned businesses. Shame on you Wal-Mart shoppers and shame on us for putting up with them.
Old Navy
I have to admit that this is a great place for kid's clothes. The quality is much better than some other comparably priced stores and they always have a good selection of sale goods.
Islamic Center Of Eastside
This Mosque does repairs on the women's section last and frequently during busy times in the past let the men overflow into some women's areas. They are remodeling though and that may get resolved. Kids classes and women's halaqa. Niqab welcome.
Islamic Idriss Mosque
Usually guest imams during Ramadan and always wonderful iftars. The sisters are upstairs and can actually feel like a part of Jummah because of the consruction of the room - open to look out over men's section, you can see who is speaking!! Freindly, mixed group.
