University-Pennsylvania Fcu
Penn is my alma mater. I spent the best four years of my life at Penn. The best lesson I took from Penn was that there are many, many smart people in the world, and that I am not the smartest person I know of. I came to face the reality and was humbled, and I'm very thankful for it.
Penn also offers a variety of activities, too many that you really have to manage your time well to do well in school and have fun at the same time. They say Penn people know how to study and party.
My first impression of the campus was aweful, but it grew on me and I've come to love it, even the ghettoes.
It could be a very gloomy place for those who don't like rain so much, but I liked it.
Pasadena City College
I took a summer course (biochem) here to fulfill one of my requirements to continue school. It was pretty easy given that I took similar course in the past at my alma mater. I could ace the class even without a textbook, solely on classroom notes. If you put in your best effort, you can get really good results grade-wise. What I liked about the prof was that he tried to relate the study material to the things we use in our daily lives. There were some cheats in the classroom, but most of the students were really nice. It was a good experience.
California Institute of Technology
caltech is one of the top schools and i have no doubt that the intellectual challenges can be met here for sure. i am a spouse of a graduate student at caltech, and a mother of an infant. the school is beautiful, and it has everything u need-Trader Joe's, Lake Ave (shopping malls for all sorts), small eateries, etc,-in walking distance. the school is small, quiet and beautiful. it's very green and u can see people go for a walk after dinner everyday. there is a wait list for the housing and children's center (6 mo. wait) but u do get there eventually and it's great. housing gets better for married couples with children but not for singles and couples without children. the dependents' health insurance is really expensive so i wouldn't recommend that. oh, and my husband has enough time to spend with me and my son except when he's discovered something really interesting at his lab. ^^ i'm happy with my lifesyle.
Sorabol Korean Restaurant
this place is similar to chosun galbi, except that the place is not as well-lit. the food is great, but it's pricy. you can get the same quality food for less at some other places. this is one of those places you go just for a good treat.
Madaongsae Korean Bbq
it's one of the many good korean bbq places, but this place can accomodate large groups, maybe 30? 35 people. the food is great. i especially like the pa moochim (seasoned scallion) that comes with the meat.
Chosun Galbi
it's a fancy restaurant with great food and atmosphere. it's a bit pricy but it's worth it. it's a nice place to go to treat important guests for great meat and cold noodle.
Young Dong Tofu
i believe there is a very good reason for the long lines and the good business. they give you so much for your money! my husband and i go there whenever we crave korean food not only because it is one of the few korean restaurants in the area but also because we can eat so much for a reasonable price. the side dishes they give free-of-charge are great, and the tofu soup is excellent in combination with other meat dishes. i like the don katsu and the noodle dish there as well. there aren't too many selections, but just enough to make us go back once a month or so.
Shaab Restaurant
the food was decent, so was the price. however, don't expect some fancy food or utensils. you really get what you paid for. perhaps because it is in the old pasadena and that it is japanese food the quality cannot be better for the price u pay. it was ok.
