After trying one of the other motels around here we found that this one was much bettter, actually not a bad motel. It's sort of a strange part of town - a rundown strip of highway right next to a nice area of the city. It was pretty cheap to stay here, and the room was pretty comfortable with actually a pretty good setup including a couch.
There seem to be a lot of antique shops in Ocean Shores and it's hard to find clear distinctions between some of them, but this seemed to me to be a pretty good one. They have a range of the usual antiques, plus there were some really interesting items in here. The service was friendly and helpful as well.
I have just stopped by at this bookstore a couple times when I had a little bit of time to spend in Olympia, and it made a good impression on me both times! The clerks were so nice and helpful it was almost unbelievable, and I was always able to find a book or two that looked interesting enough that I felt like buying it.
I stopped in here on my way through Olympia one evening and was thoroughly impressed with this tea shop! they had such a nice selection of good quality teas, some nice small packages of teabags that made good gifts, plus they even had varieties like persimmon-flavored white tea brewed that i was able to fill a thermos with when i left.
This little thrift store in Aberdeen is OK. like all thrift stores the inventory varies from time to time, just depending on what they get in. they do have pretty good sales here, so if you come on the right day you might get a good deal. the clothes selection doesn't tend to be great, but you can find a variety of other things upstairs.
The Hoquiam Swansons doesn't seem like a very upscale supermarket, but it's not bad. They have an OK selection of general groceries, plus they're actually pretty good for certain things like Mexican foods. They have some things in the ethnic/Mexican aisle which I haven't been able to find at many other grocery stores.
the biggest attraction to the kalaloch lodge is the location, since it's right at the beach at kalaloch, one of the nicest stretches of beach on the washington coast. it's not a bad place to stay (especially since there aren't many other options nearby) and the prices are actually really reasonable if you get off-season rates. it's maybe not as upscale as you would hope for if you were paying full summer rates, though.
This Safeway seems to be the best supermarket in the area. It's not great, but they have a decent selection of what Safeways usually carry. It's right along the main street that takes you out of Aberdeen to the east, like if you're heading towards Olympia, so it's easy to get to. Also their gas is about the cheapest in town, generally, if you use your Safeway card to get an extra 3 cents per gallon off.
