Dargan's is a pretty decent Irish Pub. Average prices, open mic nights, and my ex-boyfriend really liked the corned beef and cabbage. But the best part is Quiz night on Wednesday nights. You have to call to reserve a spot before hand, because it can fill up quickly. So you get a group of friends together and hang out while competing with other tables at trivia. I do not remember if there are prizes, or you just get the glory of winningmy team never actually won.
Lazy Acres is a pretty standard health food store. They have lots of vitamins and organic fruits and veggies. They do have a pretty cool bulk food section. And the deli has really good tapioca pudding. Also, if you go in after a certain time at night I think its nine oclockthe food in the deli is half price. Gotta love half price.
I have two completely differing opinions regarding this club. The staff are excellent. They are knowledgeable and friendly and everyone tries to call you by name. The members however are not my kind of people. They are made up of upper upper middle class families and really beautiful young people looking to flaunt their youth and beauty.
I like this coffee place because they experiment with different flavors and come up with special weekly combinations. Also you can pre-pay for a drink for a friend, they write your friends name on a board and when your friend comes in they are pleasantly surprised to find they get a free coffee. Go buy your friend a coffee today.
This is a fun restaurant to go to with lots of friends. Your food is cooked at your table over a hot grill, while your chef entertains you with knife tricks, throwing the pepper behind his backect. This is also the best restaurant to go Sake bombing. Sometimes competitions start between tables over who can drink theirs the loudest, your waiter might join in too. The halibut is also really good.
I heard a rumor that Julia Child called Super Cucas the best Mexican food in California. If she was referring to the taquitos, then I agree. The chicken taquito plate comes with three huge taquitos, beans, rice, guacamole and sour cream. Its the seriously huge taquitos that are the star of this generous and reasonably priced dinner. They are the length of a regular taquito, but theyre also almost an inch and a half around. Its chickeny goodness
Freebirds is not the best Mexican food everBUTits open 24 hours and it has funky pictures on the walls of people traveling in exotic locals wearing their Freebirds t-shirt. Its especially good when youre out late and nothing else is open. Since its the only thing open theres also a nice crowd there too. The line goes really fast and the meat is really good quality
PROS: conveinant, open 24 hours
CONS: food only average
Woodstocks has the best pizza. I thought I did not like pizza until I had Woodstocks pizza. Its not too greasy, but they do believe in cheese generosity. Theyre open really late, so its great for an after party snack or a study pick me up. They have tasty cinnamon pizzas and they offer whole wheat dough. Its also got a great atmosphere for hanging out with lots of friends for dinner.
I have not been to the Ventura County Museum of Art and History for a long time and had pretty much written it off as uninteresting. So I was thoughoughly pleased when I went to the Otto Heino pottery exhibit a couple weeks ago. The entry fee was nominal, the docent at the desk made sure we recieved our student discount, and the exhibit was really inspiring. I am so glad that I go to witness the work of this amazing potter.
The Peruvian Bead Co. has both pre-made, more expensive jewelry, or they also have beads and supplies for you to make your own. I espeically like that you can buy small quantities of string or leather to make your own necklaces. I like finding cool rocks or shells and then buying the clasp and thread at the Peruvian Bead Co. They also have heaps of lovely beads you can buy, but they've just never inspired me as much as things I make or find myself.
