While not as good as Fun-Plex, (see my other reviews) Mountasia is still better than Chuckie Cheese for one reason - it has both inside AND outside activites. Outside activities include batting cages, bumper boats, go-karts, and mini-golf. Inside has games, food, and party rooms.
Laser Quest is great for kids of all ages.. and don't even worry if it's violent or dangerous, my church group used to come here. They put you in a big dark room with ramps, stairs, levels, bridges, etc. (but it's not too dark to be dangerous or for anyone to fall) and you wear these vests with targets in various places. You point the lasers at other peoples targets and at the end you can get your scores. Great for birthday parties, church groups, etc.
This place was amazing, I came here many many times as a child and this place was TEN TIMES better than Chuckie Cheese (plus much less crowded) Not only do they have more games and rides than Chuckie Cheese, there's a movie theatre, a roller-skating rink, a bowling alley, an indoor ferris wheel and train ride, mini-golf, food courts, a HUGE indoor 2-level playground for kids with tunnels and slides and games.. It's truely the best place to take your kids in all of TEXAS. Great for birthday parties / family reunions / outings
We took our cocker spaniel here once, and they did a really good job. It's a little place, nothing fancy, but that means its not as expensive as a high-end place.. Now I live in L.A. and whoa you wouldn't believe what some places in Beverly Hills and Hollywood charge for a simple grooming!
I really don't like bowling that much, but this alley made it fun. Come at the right time and you will pretty much have it to yourself ( or come on Friday when it's crowded if that's what you prefer ). It's pretty big, and kind of cheap. I like the game room, snack bar, and juke box (also has current music - country, rnb, rap, rock, etc.). It's a pretty old place and isn't as flashy as some of the newer centers with loud music and flashing lights, but it's a good "hometown" alley. Great for parties (for younger kids and teens).
I used to like coming here as a kid, my mom used to be a teacher and would come here to pick up some things to teach me with ( I wasn't homeschooled it was just 'extra' learning ). They have basic supplies and also many decorative things like stickers and boards and those paper borders for the buliten board, and those calendars and decorations for elementary school classes.. Lots of things like that. I would reccomend for any teacher or mother.
I wouldn't reccomend this church for young families with small children.. seemed very small, run-down, and not quite sure how to put it, but 'stuffy'. Bad programs for kids, got several dirty looks for having my 4 year old son in the service with me ( he was not talking or crying or anything, just sitting ). There didn't seem to be many young couples or young families there like you see at most churchs.. Was just not friendly and welcoming at all.
I have been here 2 or 3 times and although it was quite a few years ago I still remember how nice it was. The outside looks like old wood but it is made to look that way and inside it is actually very new. They have one bedroom suites and I believe they also have two bedroom suites and most or all rooms have balconys. Its across the street from the beach but most hotels in Galveston are because of the seawall. It manages to have pretty decent views.
This hotel is excellent and offers great views. Just like most of the hotels in Galveston, the hotel sits across the street from the ocean but it has to because of the seawall. If you go further down to other parts of Galveston you can find beachfront places but many are condos to rent. This is a great little but nice place for families on a budget to go. It is very very nice on both the inside and on the outside. It is basically a complex of several buildings and many have ocean views. They even have 2 bedroom suites complete with 2 balconies. My family has been here several times and it was great. Outside they have 2 pools, a playground, and places to grill and bbq
I have bought several things here including a desk chair that lasted me quite a long time. This type of furniture is often overlooked and most people want to go pay $600-1000 at stores like Stars and other high-end places. But good solid wood products like they sell here will last you much longer and can be finished and painted any way you like. Prices are much better than any other place in town and the quality is high. Very big store with everything from chairs to bookcases to desks and bed frames.
PROS: GREAT service, GREAT quality, very cheap but last very long
CONS: Have to finish and paint wood yourself
