Lewis, Eric, Dc - Lewis Chiropractic
Dr. Lewis is a fabulous chiropractor who worked wonders on my back. I was having so much pain that I couldn't stand straight and could barely move when I first saw Dr. Lewis. My pain was constant and I didn't know what I was going to do. I'd been to a neurologist and back surgeon, both of whom said they could not help me and I would just have to live with the pain. After several sessions of adjustments, heat packs, electrode stimulation and massage, I was able to walk and having almost no pain! After seeing the other doctors, I was afraid I would never feel good again. I consider Dr. Lewis my miracle doctor.
B-Lov-Le
I am not a regular beauty salon goer; I don't have a standing weekly appointment like many women do; however, I probably get my hair trimmed half a dozen times a year. I have been very happy with B-Lov-Le salon. The stylists there seem to really listen to me when I tell them how I like my hair styled. When I say I'd like my hair trimmed, they don't cut 6" off, for instance. Their prices are fair and reasonable, too. I guess those are some of the reasons B-Lov-Le was just voted #1 beauty salon by readers of Highlands Today.
Bassett Custom Audio/Video
I went to Bassett when I was looking for a TV because I'd heard they were the best electonics dealer in Highlands County. I had no idea they sold so many types of TVs, stereos, sound systems, car alarms, antennas, VCRs, DVD players, satellite systems and even more. They even have the latest plasma and high definition TVs in the store. Not only do they sell all these electronics, they also repair and install them. The sales staff was more than friendly and could answer any and all of my questions. (I'd read through my Consumer Guide books so had some questions ready.) After shopping at Bassett, it was obvious why they've earned such an outstanding reputation.
U Do Ceramic
U-Do Ceramic shop is a fun place to make ceramics. There are lots of things to do there, too. You can buy a ready made item or make your own. If you want to make your own, you choose the greenware piece you want to paint. You then choose to paint it with acrylic paints or ceramic glaze. If you want to glaze your piece, Mrs. Swan and/or her daughter will have to fire it for you. Mrs. Swan and Kathy are very happy to help you through this process because they want you to be pleased with your masterpiece when you're finished.
Craft Corner
Craft Corner has been in business about 20 years. The current owner, Ardith, has been part of the business for all that time. I first learned about Craft Corner when our local newspaper printed an article about Ardith and her exquisite miniature creations. Ardith knows what her customers want and is happy to provide them with it. If there is something you want that she doesn't have in stock, she will go to great lengths to get it for you. Not only will Craft Corner sell you supplies, they will also teach you what to do with those supplies in the craft classes they teach. Craft Corner is a fun place to shop - there is always someone laughing there.
Sally Beauty Supply
Conveniently located in the Sebring Square Plaza near Pet Supermarket, I shop at Sally Beauty Supply when I can't find what I need at Wal-Mart. I think the prices and selection are much better at Wal-Mart, however, there have been beauty items I've needed but could not find there. If that's the case, I just cross US 27 to the Sebring Square Plaza and I can usually find what I'm looking for at Sally Beauty Supply. Although this store is small, they do have quite a lot of beauty supplies. I do have to say, though, that the sales clerks are not the least bit helpful. I was in there one day and looked at everything in the shop three times (that was three times around the store) and still could not find what I was looking for. Although there were two people working at the time, they were busy talking to each other about last night's date and neither asked if they could help me find something. And they had to see me - I was the only other person in there for the entire 45 minutes I searched the shelves! I did finally ask for help and was able to locate what I was looking for.
Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory Inc
When my mother died, I was responsible for making all the decisions for her arrangements. It was a difficult time for me emotionally and financially. Mr. Nelson was very helpful and gently guided me through the decisions I needed to make at that time. Even though that was 12 years ago, I still believe Mr. Nelson was honest and ethical in the way he treated me. He could easily have steered me into choosing things I didn't need and therefore making more money for himself but he did not. He helped me make low-cost choices which fit my needs.
Couture's Gallery & Frame Shop
I've had several items framed at Couture's Gallery and they have done a great job each time. I had my niece's wedding invitation framed and gave it to her and her husband as a wedding gift. Couture's helped me choose the perfect mat and frame for this special item. Another item I had framed was a needlepoint piece. Not only did they frame this piece, they also did a great job of stretching it. The most important item I had framed was my mother's christening gown. Couture's made sure to choose archival quality materials when framing this special heirloom so that it will last for generations to come.
Happy Owl Party & Educational
Conveniently located in the Village Fountain Shopping Center, Happy Owl sells an interesting mix of party supplies and educational supplies. I know a lot of women who do home schooling get their supplies from Happy Owl. They specialize in Christian teaching supplies and teaching resource materials. Not being a teacher, I like to use their stickers, stars, stencils and similar items in the crafts I make. Mixed in with the teaching supplies are balloons and some other party supplies. They will also send and receive faxes and laminate things for you.
Artistic Body Works
Artistic Body Works has worked on my car on two separate occassions. Both times, their work was excellent. The second time they painted my car (for a second accident), there was a bubble on the hood (which I couldn't even see) so they repainted the entire hood free of charge. In each case, Artistic Body Works gave me an accurate estimate, clearly explained what needed to be done and finished on time.
