Grove Pacific Theatres
A few different screens, but they're all good. High tech projection and sound, and bonus -- you can order your food and have it delivered to your seat. Digital projection.
Commerce Casino
The low limit and high limit poker sections are packed to the gills. Lot's of action if you want it. The parking sucks if you dont valet -- the spots are tiny and part of the lot is a mud pit, so don't inadvertently drive into the lake that forms after a good rain.
PROS: Gambool, action
CONS: parking
Beverly Shell
The gas prices are less than up in Hollywood but more than the stations west on Pico. The attendant was obnoxious as is the tire inflation station. It's 'automated' and you have to program it to fill your tires -- not a standard fill and check device.
Number One Discount Furniture
Same inventory as MM Furniture down the street, but slightly more expensive. About the same deals and small storefront -- although you can actually walk around and look at the furniture in this store.
PROS: Price
CONS:
Arclight Movie Theater
In the regular theatre, chairs are nice and spaced out so you can see the movie well. The attendents are helpful and there's a lounge area you can wait in until your movie starts. Only thing an issue is the ticket price -- you pay for the additional ammenities, but not much more than normal LA prices.
They also have an IMAX esque dome, although I havent yet gone into it. Also, leaving the parking lot after a popular movie can be a nightmare.
PROS: Ambience, sound, picture
CONS: price, parking
Futon Shop
Looked around here, have many different futons and frames, better than the rest of the chop shops -- however you do pay a steep price premium for that. Service is good and friendly, and the futons are some of the newer designs.
PROS: Selection, design, quality
CONS: Price
Walgreens
Lots of the great Walgreens weekly deals here. You see a lot of senior citizens and bargain hunters scouring the aisles of the best ones. The trade off is that there isn't the same variety and selection you see in other chain drug stores.
PROS: Bargains
CONS: Selection
Rite Aid
Lots of selection, more than the Walgreens down the street. However, Walgreens has more 'deals' on certain items then here. Plenty of parking in back.
PROS: Parking, selection
CONS:
Toyota Of North Hollywood
I went here to fix my windshield. They work with the major insurance companies and fixed it within a day. Also have complimentary shuttle service to close areas while your car is being serviced, although if it's too far they won't pick you up. Courteous sales staff.
PROS: Insurance companies, 'toyota brand name', shuttle service
CONS: location
Office Depot
There's not enough people working this store. Only 1 cashier open when 3-4 people waiting in line. Go to the other Office Depots if you can. You'll waste a lot of time here.
PROS:
CONS: Service, inventory
