Cafe Tu Tu Tango

Atlanta, GA Restaurants 05/12/05: 'awesome concept'

Funky atmosphere and "tapas" from all around the world. Good food, and reasonably priced! Friendly waitstaff too, always willing to accommodate large parties. Too bad it's in the heart of Buckhead!

I've never understood why people think this place is so great. The service is spotty at best, and they always bring you this tepid portion of 'spanakopita' (flaky, feta cheese/spinach pastry) without you even having ordered it, which is kind of dumb - and probably is part of the reason the prices are higher than they should be. The food is decent for the most part, but there are other places around town that have better Italian/Greek stuff for more reasonable prices (and no "complimentary" spanakopita). Maybe the main appeal lies in the fact that it's open 24 hours.

I don't know if this place has undergone an ownership and/or management change in the last few years, but I remember back in the day I used to go here at least once a week for lunch. I loved these guys because they would HOOK ME UP! They piled on the good stuff and it was always tasty. Last week (three years after the last time) I visited and was majorly disappointed. The food is still good, but they skimp on the portions BIG time. I probably won't be back any time soon.
