This is nestled in with other shops at the 52nd/Illinois corner. They have a great selection of children's books, a very knowledgeable staff (most formerly or in training to be a teacher, childcare provider, etc.). Nice gift selections, and can help you out if you have no clue what would be a good gift for say, a 9 year old boy who doesn't like sports, or some other anomaly. :)
When I attended Butler, my parents always stayed here. Right off of I65, easy to jump on and off. Just north of a "sketchy" area, but we never ventured that way.
Clean rooms, great breakfast, reasonable rates.
This place has cute gifts and cards, but I go here especially when I need to put together an impromptu bouquet, for myself or anyone else. You can select stems from buckets yourself and have them wrap it up, or they can help you put something together.
I walked away with the most gorgeous array of flowers, tied off with raffia for less than seven dollars the other day.
Great selection, fair pricing. Friendly staff and Good sales.
You really don't get your money's worth when attempting to sell them things. My rec is to take it to the Goodwill or Julian Center and take the tax deduction. Better cause and better value.
Name brands, drugstore brands, stylists that don't charge an arm and a leg. I was confused about which hair product was best, the sales person didn't know, so she went back and brought out a stylist who steered me toward her fave products, which were actually cheaper than what I was looking at.
Their brand cosmetics are also very good.
Check out the clearance areas. You can get high end salon products at quite a bargain.
LOVE this market. Best selection of bins of dry goods and spices. Fabulous cafe, delicious bakery selections.
Compared to national chain "health food" stores, you can find things here for a fraction of the cost. You can also ask questions and get a friendly response. A hidden gem.
Considering all the great free zoos in the midwest, I was shocked to learn that it would be more than thirty dollars to take my family of three. The zoo is small, can be managed in a few hours, and not worth that kind of money. Plus, they charge extra for carousel, train and other special activities, membership or no.
But if you can spring for the membership (~$90), and plan to go every few weeks or so, it is worth it. Lots of play areas for the kids, incredible dolphin pavillion opening this summer, and it's fun to just go for a few hours and you don' t feel you've wasted your money if your kids poop out before you do.
My daughter took the pre-dance class for several sessions. It was a good value, and the perfect match of learning basic postions, steps, etc. while not being too strict or ridgid, as some academies in town are.
Class prices are reasonable, but they do charge a yearly enrollment fee that I find redundant. We pulled our daughter only because her interest waned, not because of the quality of instruction.
My only critique is that young teens are teaching some courses, and if a young child needed to leave (potty, didn't want to participate, etc.) they would halt the entire class. It was infuriating to pay for a half hour class that was disrupted and sometimes became 15 minutes of actual instruction. Perhaps the younger teachers were more afraid to be the disciplinarian?
Easy to get an appointment, doctor takes time with you and truly listens to your concerns. Makes getting refills easy, as well as documentations, etc. needed for daycares/schools.
Very up to date on pediatric recommendations and practices.
Friendly office and desk staff.
We started taking our daughter to him more than five years ago, and now we all go: my husband, myself and our infant son, too.
The selection is amazing, the staff is incredible. Rachel has a background in theater, and was a professor at Butler University in the theater department for years. She has taken all of her vast knowledge and applied it to a store that not only does amazing rentals, but custom work as well. They have done things for us for theater productions, but also do good business in Santa suits and Halloween costumes.
Their stage makeup selection is extremely reasonable, and they can order anything you need.
Choose Landes first. You won' t be disappointed.
