Radiance has a loyal and knowledgable staff and the store itself is set up to encouraged a relaxed shopping experience. This store features a wide range of herbs, teas, natural beauty porducts, and gifts. Whenever I walk in, I find myself slowing down and sipping a sample cup of herbal tea, scrutinizing the sticker and jewelry collections, or smelling all the delicious soaps.
This is a nice place to shop for a gift for yourself or a friend. Teas (from traditional to trendy, local and imported) are available in a variety of price ranges. And ALL the acoutrements you could ever think of are available as well. There is an adjoining tearoom that serves daily teas and baked goods. Check out the imported candy and cookie selection. No coffee (God Forbid!).
PROS: wide selection
This is the best hair salon I've ever come across. The staff is friendly and the environment is hip and but chic but never overbearing. No one will try to sell you any products you don't need. Prices are in the mid range ($40 for a cut) but I've always been happy to pay--and that's saying something.
This is a very sweet local print shop with a loyal and knowledgable staff. The spot is often comfortably busy, but there's always a copier available and always someone ready to assist you--not always the case in the larger, hectic copy shops!
PROS: reasonable in every way
Orca books has an inviting, expansive space complete with gifts, self-serve coffee, and, of course, new and used books. Staff is helpful and friendly. Stacks are organized for easy browsing with staff recommendations and book awards marking each shelf. Used books (in fine condition) are stacked with the new, so go ahead and pull every book off the shelf, looking for the one with the clean cover AND the reduced price.
PROS: in-store reading encouraged
Old School serves the best New York style pizza around, available by the slice (with multiple daily specials) or by the pie. A slice of cheeze--a dependable standby--goes for $1.50. Quality beers on tap. Old school has the ambiance of a teenager's bedroom circa 1983 with ear-splitting music to boot. If you don't like it, take your pie home.
PROS: delicious pizza, friendly service
CONS: loud atmosphere
