A local classifieds publication that is published weekly and disbursed for free and hundreds of local stores. Great place to buy or sell a car or appliance, rent a house or anything else you can think of. It seems like this little paper has a good following and I have always been able to buy or sell quickly and easily using the Thrifty Nickel.
A must for local printed news, but only because they have a virtual monopoly on the Peoria newspaper market. The actual design and layout of the paper could be improved as well as their website, which is horrifying for a paper of their size and circulation. Take it or leave it depending on how you want to get your local news.
Located in the heart of downtown Peoria, the Mark Twain hotel is a great location for a business trip or weekend getaway. They have recently renovated and have a comfortable lobby area with and internet coffee bar and restaurant attached. Close to Caterpillar and other major downtown locations. I would recommend the Mark Twain if you are staying in downtown Peoria.
Morton Community Bank prides itself on being a "hometown" bank where everyone knows everyone else. They do excel at that aspect of their business. However, they are still stuck in the last century when it comes to technology and services that are helpful for this day and age. Also, there interest rates are poor and fees high. I would look somewhere else for your banking unless you want to pay for having your banker recognize you on the street.
My experience with this particular Napa Auto Parts is that they do not carry an extensive line of parts. While the parts they do have are great, I have been in several times and have ended up having to go next door to Farm and Fleet in order to get the parts I was seaching for.
My main experience with Peoria Charter Coach is their service from Peoria to O'Hare and Midway. They travel daily from Peoria to the Chicago airports with several stops in between. I believe they are a family owed business. They also offer charter services. Seems like a reliable and dependable company.
Classic longstanding camera shop. If you need additional camera equipment or repair, this is the place to go. They are located in the Metro Center right off of University. Peoria Camera is a little pricey, but they will get the job done right the first time.
A great place to go with your family on a hot summer day! Splashdown is located at Eastside Center in East Peoria. They have wet and wild fun for the whole family. Run through the huge wet tower playground, cruise down the lazy river, tube down the slide or just splash around in the pool.
Sonitrol sells security and monitoring systems for business and residential. Having dealt with them in both areas, I would highly recommend them. They have always been professional and quick when responding to alarms. Their systems are reasonably priced for the service that you get.
UFS is a savings store located just south of downtown Peoria on Adams. You will find significant savings here, especially on appliances and furniture. They do have many items, some of which I would consider junk, but if you are in need of an appliance, I would recommend UFS.
