Third Planet

Torrance, CA Toys - Torrance, CA Comic Books - Torrance, CA Used & Rare Books 05/23/05: 'Third Planet - cool comic and game shop, good location'

Third Planet is a cool small comic store, which has a pretty interesting selection of comics, sure they have the normal marvel and dc, big name stuff, but they stock a lot of independent and up and coming comics. The trade paperback selection is pretty good, harkening back to what I previously stated. They dont seem to deal with back issues or old comics or anything like that, but its a good place to get your Wednesday-New-Comic Fix, they get all the major releases as well as some more obscure as well. This store does however have a HUGE gaming section, something I know little about, but it seems to take over the majority of the store, all that war hammer and what not. They also have tournaments and things of that nature. Often they will have sales, or special events, once they gave away free pizza and cheep comics, but they seem to be in touch with their costumers and the community. The parking is great; because it is located in a shopping plaza with electronics giant best buy, so you know the parking is ample. Some cool people work the counter as well and will help you out if youre not a nerd.

PROS: cool comic store, carry lots of indie comics as well as major.
CONS: if gaming offends you, this might not be the best place for you.

Papa Guido's Pizza

Redondo Beach, CA Caterers - Redondo Beach, CA Pizza Restaurants 05/23/05: 'Papa Guido's , good pizza, great prices'

Papa Guidos is a great little affordable local pizzeria. They also offer hamburgers and other choices for those who simply cant handle the pies. Guidos offers standard pizza fair as far as pizza joint menus go, however they have a great deal, for $4.32 (tax included), you get 2 slices, which are actually 4 slices (half a pizza) and unlimited refills. Its pretty much the cheapest food in the area. 9 times out of 10, the pizza is mouth-wateringly good, especially when youre on a budget. The dcor is typical bar style, basic lighting, and some pointless paintings and neon beer signs. Parking is generally easy, even though there are few spots, however during lunch it can often get a bit tight. Personally, this is one of my favorite locations, and a favorite amongst my peers. I cannot stress the #1 special enough, its a sure sell. They also have a pretty good Italian ice desert treat. They have beer, and 3 bars are located within a skips distance.

PROS: Special #1
CONS: parking sometimes isn't super easy, but it's not a big deal.
