Mandeville, LA Bakers & Bakeries 05/25/05: 'DELICIOUS!'

Mandeville Bake Shop has some of the best cake you will ever put in your mouth. I live in New Orleans, but find it worth it to go over there to get a cake. They're WONDERFUL! Their white cake with buttercream icing is to die for and you won't be disappointed. Plus, their prices are super reasonable. I love this bakery!

Monet's Garden is a florist you can trust. Their flowers are always top quality and the arrangments are beautiful. This is the kind of place where you can tell them what you want and know that they will design something even prettier than what you had in mind, all the while staying within your budget.

I loved loved loved my salesman, Stephan Tangu and would happily buy car after car from him. Unfortunately, the service department is very lacking. They rarely answer the phone, take forever to call back, don't call to let you know the status of your car, etc. The last time I brought my car in, they promised it for the end of the day, then didn't have it ready, then called me at home to tell me it was ready. I got there to pick it up, signed the paperwork, then waited about 15-20 minutes for them to bring my car around. When I went back inside to see what the problem was, they told me they thought I was gone already. FINALLY, I got my car back. They seem unprofessional and like they don't really give much of a rat's behind about customer service.

I needed major alterations for a bridesmaid's dress and was VERY pleased with the work they did on it. When I brought it in, it was too long and I could get it on and off without unzipping it. Now, it fits me like a glove and they only had it for two weeks! The couple who owns and operates this place are very friendly.

This may not be the least expensive place to get alterations, but you can rest assured that the work will be done very well and very quickly.

Animal Medical & Surgical Hosp

Metairie, LA Animal Hospitals 05/25/05: 'A great place to take your pet'

Drs. Carrier and McSweeney REALLY care about animals and aren't out to just empty your wallet. When my dog and my parents' dog (who lived in the same house) both had kennel cough, I took mine to Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital and my parents' dog was treated at Causeway Animal Hospital. For the SAME treatment for the SAME problem, I was charged $50 less.

The office is clean, the staff is friendly, and the vets knowledgeable.
