Looking for a contemporary Mexican food restaurant with good food and great service? Check out the Gringos Mexican Kitchen in the Texas City area. At times it seems crowded, but if you don't mind waiting a few minutes for a table, you will find the food to be good, the prices decent, and the service excellent on most occassions. Only a couple of times have I had an employee give me a difficult time or inadequate service. Most always things go quite well, and my family has a good time. The atmosphere is fairly nice, and the decorations are attractive, bringing a Mexican flare to the Texas Gulf Coast. Worth checking out if you like Mexican food.
PROS: Good food and service
CONS: Sometimes crowded with a short wait for a table
The prices may be a little high, but the local, friendly, customer service can't be beat. The selection is good, the lumber quality is high, and the employees are quite helpful. If they don't have it, they will order it for you and have usually within a week. Their delivery services are exceptional, and will deliver almost anywhere on your property for no extra charge. Well worth checking out if you need a good, local hardware store.
PROS: Good selection and service
CONS: Prices are a little high
What good thing can be said about the Busy Bee Cafe in Alvin, Texas? Perhaps the food. It is decent country-style cooking and it tastes excellent. However, the atmosphere and service is quite horrible. It seems to become the local hangout for all of the rough-looking characters when dark settles in. The facility is usually quite filthy, and there are only a few employees there to take care of preparing and serving the food and cleaning the grounds.
PROS: The food
CONS: The service, atmosphere, and location in town
The atmosphere at Las Flores is like most Mexican food restaurants: nothing to write home about. It is a standard dining facility that has average food. The prices are fairly good, and they carry some good specials. However, there are better places to get Mexican food in town. The employees are nice, but hard to converse with, making communication somewhat difficult. All in all, a good dining location with decent prices.
PROS: Decent food at a Decent Price
CONS: Not exceptional in any way
Ever want a little Italian flare? Check out the Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant in Pearland. As you enter through the double-doors, you enter a part of Italy. The tables and booths are well positioned and provide privacy. The employees are helpful and are quite willing to serve the customer. The prices are a little high, but the food seems to make up for it. One small tip: if you order the family-sized portion, it is enough to feed at least three people easily and possibly four. For a couple, it's a great way to get a good meal and take the leftovers home. This is also probably the most inexpensive way to eat at this restaurant.
PROS: Great-tasting food and wonderful service
CONS: The prices are a little high
As you approach this high-class Mexican food restuarant, you begin to wonder if you can afford to eat there! Upon entering through the double-doors, you can see an excellent layout of tables, locations, side-rooms, and busy (and helpful) waiters and waitresses working to serve. When viewing the menu, the customer will find that their prices are quite low for the atmosphere. When the food comes, it is great-tasting and very-filling. Not only that, but it is a large quantity of well-seasoned food that will make you want to come back for more!
PROS: Great service and food; kind and helpful employees
The guys operating JM Specialties in Alvin are excellent people to work with. Having used them on several occassions to get quotes, take down signs, and build new signs, they have always helped me get what I needed done when I needed to do it. From quotes, to designs, to the actual building and erecting the sign, they do it all and do it well. I have never had a problem with these men, and their customer service is incredible. Whether on the phone, in person, or via email, these guys know how to make the customer feel comfortable, informed, and served.
PROS: Excellent service; Good Design work; Excellent CSR work
Shopping a any Dollar General can be an experience, as the stock always changes and you never know what you might find. However, one thing seems to remain constant: low prices. The Dollar General store in Manvel is a good location that is quite new. Unfortunately, you will probably want to make sure you have cash with you when you enter the store. When I was in the store last, they were not taking credit cards, and it made purchasing difficult for several individuals in the store (including myself). However, for a nice layout, and decent selection, try out the Dollar General store in Manvel for yourself!
PROS: Good selection for a Dollar General Store
CONS: Payment options vary and seem inconsistent
Looking for cheap or older clothes items? Check out the Alvin DAV thrift store! On most days they have a large selection of clothing items for men, women, and children. I have walked out with several suits on different occassions for a very cheap price. They also carry books, video tapes/dvds, audio cds, home items, artwork, jewelry, and much more. If you need to purchase a specific item for a minimal price and you don't mind if it has been previously used, you might can find it at the DAV thrift store!
PROS: Large store; many items to choose from
CONS: Items are used and not always in the best condition
Upon entering the business, the customer is greeted with an incredibly dense array of items ranging from tires to refrigerators to televisions and washers and dryers. Their specialty is automotive repair, but it seems they have a large selection of appliances as well to sell on the side. I have only experienced their automotive service. They seem to do a good job in actually servicing of the vehicle, but their social skills and ability to communicate in a courteous manner is very lacking. Some individuals I speak to who use this business leave having felt as though they did not get the "whole story" abou their vehicle, and that the employees became somewhat defensive when questioned about their work.
PROS: Quick Service
CONS: Unpredictable customer service
