I recently made several calls to these people because I had questions about a family member's ability to get help with his insurance needs (as he is on medication for depression and anxiety and his healthcare provider won't pay for any prescriptions for that sorts of thing). I offered to help my family member and I called the Mental Health Association first. They were extremely knowledgeable and friendly and took a load of time with me.,
When the first person I talked to didn't have the answers I sought, she immediately gave my case to someone who could better help me. He called promptly the next day and we discussed the situation and he gave me many helpful pointers and tips and sent out information to both me and my family member.
They do a lot of advocating for children with mental illness and they are there for anyone with a child who has been labeled or determined mentally and will help you with whatever you may need to cope.
I find this Association to be friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They helped me to help my family member and I have no doubts they will do everything they can to help you or your loved one.
They have many resources and much information and are free.
Give them a call if you don't know where to start looking for info about a mentally ill person and they will guide you all the way.
I appreciate the help I was given and my family member now has his medications at a reduced rate and is no longer fretting about the cost of the full prescriptions. This Association did not do this but they put me in touch with the right agencies and resources that could make it possible.
All class and caring. Highly recommended.
I am a communicant of this church and have both given and taken over the years from the church.
They were there during some dark days when my son was very ill 10 years ago and, without hesitation or questions, offered me financial support for our trek to Baltimore to find a cure for him (which we did).
I have also donated widely to the church through the parish office, both food and monetary contributions.
The parish office is manned by wonderful, caring people and the whole church is very giving. It's big and it has a lot of members but you feel like one of the family when in need or when you want to help out.
I have nothing but good things to say about this parish, the office, the staffers, and the church itself.
A wonderful, inspiring place for even those with doubt.
It is difficult to rate an entire school system but my sons, ages 19 and 15, have gone to schools in this system since day one. They have gone to Bear Road Elementary, Roxboro Road Middle School, North Syracuse Junior High, and North Syracuse High School.
These schools have been fine, I have had good experiences with all, and the district as a whole is dedicated to making our kids smarter and not just letting them slide.
My sons were made to work hard and to do their homework or pay the consequences of detention or summer school which is fine. They needed (and need) structure.
The school district is one that keeps parents informed of policy changes and of important things we need to know and are open to suggestions. I have had personal calls from home from teachers who couldn't get back to me during school hours about a concern I had and have found just about everyone to be very open to ideas and discussion regarding my children's' educations.
I am comfortable with this district and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. There is not a lot of violence or fighting in the schools and, barring the seemingly constant fake bomb threats that plagued all the school districts for a while, there have been no incidences that were off the charts worrisome.
The schools are secure and well stocked and start of the art. While none of the schools or super high tech, they have computers and other things that our kids need to learn to get by in this day of technology.
Because we are in the north, we get our share of snow days but they are made up if we go over the amount allotted.
All in all, this district has served my children well and I would not hesitate to tell you to put your children into the school system in this district.
Both my sons attended Roxboro Road Middle School and did very well. The teachers are good, patient, and for the most part, care a lot about the success of the kids there.
The school is pretty large and overwhelming to younger kids at first but my sons adapted fine and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. They did well in school but they also were taught that they can't slack off or goof around as the teachers are strict. They learned a a hard lesson when they had to stay for detention a few times after talking to their classmates too much.
I don't find the school's disciplinary practices out of line at all. They don't do anything that would be considered cruel or upsetting. They do, however, strictly enforce the rules which is what I want.
They are a secure school but often got bomb threats making the entire school stand outside while those threats were investigated. Obviously that isn't the school's fault but it became crazy in the dead of winter to let small kids stand outside for an hour. However, they then sat the kids in the auditorium or the gym and that was worse. If there is a bomb in the school, I want my kids OUT of there not in there.
This, however, is not the fault of the school. It's something we have to put up with from people with too much time on their hands. No bombs were ever found.
That aside, neither son ever was in a fight or had any problem there and both excelled and moved on with readiness.
I have no qualms at all about this school. It produced two smart kids with respect for their teachers and took them far in their next phases of school life.
**This is a review of only the copying and duplicating part of the Staples store as it it is under the heading of Copying & Duplicating**
This copy center is only good for the simplest of tasks. There are a couple people who work behind the desk and they sometimes have limited knowledge about how to properly work the machines.
You can self copy on their machines, which often run out of toner or paper and cause delays and waits. However, self copying is quit inexpensive.
Behind the counter, they will copy, collate, staple etc. your job but it may take a while. I have done jobs of just 500 copies and had to leave and go back several hours later. It depends on who was before you and how many machines are tied up.
They also sell personalized items like business cards, desk name plates, door plates, monogrammed things and more. This is done offsite and takes anywhere from 10-21 days to get the items. Usually they get it right but often, the staff is not sure about anything so you have to be sure to pick exactly what you want and be sure they write it down exactly right.
They do replace things if they are printed wrong but you have to sign the print sheet saying everything is accurate so carefully look over their spelling and directions before signing off.
As far as simple copies, they're fine and inexpensive. I bring my own paper which cuts costs a lot (I use colored paper and it's much more expensive to use theirs).
If they're slow, copies can be done quickly otherwise, you have to leave and come back.
At times, the machines produce faded and not so good looking copes and sometimes they have toner speckles and other debris. I have thrown out some copies as they were unusable.
It's hard to rate this place. For quick, unimportant jobs, they're fine. Sometimes, they do a great job with bigger tasks, but it all depends on who is running the machines and their level of expertise and knowledge.
For good prices, this is the place to go but for real quality, I sugges
**THIS IS A REVIEW OF JUST THE COPY CENTER PART OF STAPLES AS IT IS LISTED UNDER COPYING & DUPLICATING*
This Staples has very inexpensive copying. If you need 100 or 200 copies in black and white, this is where to get them. The prices are very low. When you get into complicated things like color and very large jobs, it can get much more expensive and the staff is not well trained.
They have a small section in the store itself and you hand your work over to them and usually wait while it gets done. If it's a big job or very complicated, you will need to leave and come back later or the next day.
They also do business cards and other special copying/personalized work that you order. They don't do that onsite but you order from large books of styles and you can add your own logo and text. That can take up to two weeks to get a job done so prepare for that.
I use this for simple copying tasks. If I have to run off a few hundred simple copies, this is the cheapest place around and they don't usually make mistakes.
When it gets complicated is when there is a potential for problems. For complicated jobs, you're better off at a Kinkos and a Pip's etc who specialize in large or complicated printing jobs.
This is good for what it is - a small copy center for copies and for ordering business cards, stationary, desk name plates, and similar things. The wait is quite long for anything that is sent out and personalized but the prices are decent.
Prices - good
Quality - decent
Best used for small, uncomplicated jobs or bigger black and white copies if you have the time to wait a few hours.
This Kinkos is a large one with a vast variety of options for those who need printing and other work done. They have machines to make copies yourself but they also have a full staff that will copy, collate, staple, bind, and do anything you need to have done.
They also have computer rentals and various other things that make this place a notch above the others.
The prices, however, can be steep. For simple copying needs, you would be better off at Staples or somewhere similar but for large jobs, this is a good place even with the higher costs. The price drops as the number of copies you get done rises so you get a better deal with bigger jobs.
They also have Fed Ex supplies and mailing there now, which is good to be able to do everything in one stop.
I have had a few problems here. Copies would be light or off center, things wouldn't be collated correctly, they would get swamped and couldn't do my job for hours, sometimes a day or more.
I would use them again but I definitely would watch for errors and problems and make sure everything was to my satisfaction before leaving. Also, I suggest getting a written quite for your job so that you aren't shocked when the job is done and the price is high.
This is a large, very busy center that can deal with the smallest and largest of jobs. The problem is that some of the staff members aren't too savvy with the machines and they can produce copies that aren't good enough for what you need. Be sure to point that out and they will fix the problem usually.
This is a decent place to go, especially for large or complicated printing jobs. They do it all here and you can mail out packages as well. I gave this a Satisfactory rating because I encountered a lot of sloppiness and long wait times when dealing with them but they also produce decently prices jobs much of the time.
Just beware of any errors and get them corrected immediately and all should be fine.
This is a decent place for copies and other paper and printing needs. I haven't been there in a while but used them a lot before and always had deent service.
Prices are OK, not exorbitant, but not a steal either.
They offer a variety of copying services from do it yourself to staffed work for large jobs.
They do have fairly knowledgeable staff and they are clear on prices before you have work done, which is important when doing larger jobs.
I never had a problem with anything and, if I did have a small gripe, they always fixed the problem with a minimum of fuss.
I would deal with them again should the need arise.
Lots of family members have used Installations Unlimited for all sorts of work, usually installing stereos in their vehicles or other tricky work that they can't or don't want to try to do themselves.
This is a good place to go for that sort of thing but expensive! Their prices are very high. Although they do good work, I believe they overcharge and the same service can be found elsewhere at better prices.
The staff is smart but not very friendly and call backs are slow in coming. We were going to have some work done there but they never even called us back so we went elsewhere.
I am not impressed with their work ethic but they do a good job - for a hefty price.
I rated this satisfactory because the work they do is OK. But if you're concerned about costs, definitely get it all in writing first and, if it seems crazy high, check around. There are other options.
Sarina is the owner of this fairly small salon and the staff is friendly. Sarina does hair but not often these days from what I hear. At any rate, I had a perm there once before I left that phase behind me and it was OK. The stylist was very talkative and friendly and took a lot of time with me. The perm was a bit tight but that tends to happen to me everywhere.
Prices are a bit on the high side. Haircuts can even be expensive. The place is somewhat cluttered and noisy but, as I said, friendly.
I also had my hair dyed there and it turned out purple as opposed to the red I wanted. They did correct this though the next day for free. It wasn't the exact color but better than purple!
I think this is a decent place, certainly not the best, but they have a steady clientele who keep returning and they're very friendly and take their time. I like that they don't rush you out with a wet head or not satisfied.
Although I had a few experiences that went a little awry, they did fix the dye job and the perm is just one of those things that always happened to me everywhere. My hair just takes well to that stuff so I don't totally blame the stylist.
Prices are steep though so prepare yourself and ask ahead of time what you're going to be paying. They charge extra for long hair especially when highlighting or perming so don't be shocked if you have long hair and are charged more than expected.
A decent salon with friendly, caring stylists but not a great place by any means. It's certainly better than some I have been to and at least they don't rush you out before you're ready or make you wait too long to be called.
Sarina herself is quite good if you can get her. She has a lot of experience and is one of the best there. I used to ask for her every time but she was so booked and then wasn't there much. I don't go there any longer but I would go back if need be without too many fears of problems. I would just be sure to bring my checkbook! Ouch!
