Austin’s
We have been here several time and our kids always have a lot of fun. There is a pizza buffet if you are hungry and also a snack bar that sells drinks and snacks. The main indoor area is a large arcade with all the typical video games and also a rock climbin area. Outside is a batting cage miniature golf course, go cart racing and bumper boats.
Mustang Island State Park
We love to camp in this park! The primitive campgounds are right on the beach within 30 feet of the water line. Every 200 feet or so is a show and a portable toilet that is very well maintained. The main bathroom facilities are very nice and within easy reach. The beaches are kept clean and the fees are very nominal.
Texas State Aquarium
We make sure that we visit this aquariom every time we are in Corpus Christi. The fish exhibits are incredible! Our kids love the areas where they can pet the creatures, like the starfish and sea urchins. They have an extensive shark exhibit and even a tank where you can pet baby nurse sharks. Be sure and check out the playground for the kids when you need a break.
Austin Zoo
This is not your ordinary zoo. It does not have all the fancy displays and pricy exhibits. It is a rehabilitation zoo. This means they take in abused and neglected animals and give them a safe place to live and the good care they diserve. It is a great place to take the kids to teach them about the animals and the rehabilitation process. Be sure and ride the train when you visit. This zoo is located in the beautiful austin hill country.
Advance Auto Parts
This is and ok auto parts store. The employees are minimally helpful, though I think some of their attitude towards me is because I am a female. They carry the full range of car parts and can order what ever is not in stock. I tend to go to them when I need a new battery because they have their own generic brand that is cheaper than the major brands.
O'Reilly Auto Parts
Though O'Reilly carries the same basic supplies as other auto parts stores, however their employees are more knowledgable about auto parts and quite often have lower prices. If the part I need is not in stoch they will order or transfer it and have it to me within 24 hours.
AutoZone Auto Parts
We do a lot of our own work on our cars and Auto Zone is a great place to buy car parts. The employees are normally very helpful when I have a question, though at times it seems that I know more then them. If the part I need is not in stock, they can order it and have it to me very quickly.
Schoolocker Teacher Supply
This store has a large assortment of teaching aids. They have an extensive selection of classroom decorations, posters and banners. They also carry a small amount of manipulatives, craft supplies and books. As a homeschooling mom, I really appreciate having a store like this so close to home.
Lakeshore Learning Store
I love this store! My kids love this store! As homeschooling mom, I am often looking for educational manipulatives for my kids. This store has it all. Puppets, science kits, math books, blocks, paper goods. I always know I will find exactly what I need when I visit this store.
Kay Bee Toy & Hobby Shop
This is a very small, mall based toy store. They do not have a very large selection, but they usually have good sales going on. I usually go to this store if I can not find what I am looking for in other stores. They have a small amount of video games and a large barbie section.
