Sports Authority

When I make it out to Sportmart I usually end up buying more things that I want. They have a large selection of sporting goods and camping equipment for all occasions. I get most of my athletic shoes here and there are good sales on clothes sometimes as well. Go here if you want a big selection, but my experiences with customer service has not been the best.

Eureka Video

This video store is good for those looking for an alternative to the big blockbuster and hollywood videos. The guys that work there are cool and have some good suggestions when unsure of what to get. Don't have tons of copies of all movies but you can always find something to watch.

Moe's Flowers

I like the selection and freshness of the flowers at Moe's. I pass by it every once in awhile and take a big whiff of the flowers, definitely fresh. Great customer service and friendly staff who cater to your needs. Don't be afraid to ask any questions and pick their brains.

La Pinata Market

I like all the options that are available at this market. They make great mexican food that I order while doing a little grocery shopping. The shelves are packed and pretty high, but it is because they have such a selection. Fantastic burritos and plenty of pinatas to choose from.

Alpine Meadows Ski Resort

I went here for my second time snowboarding and it was a good experience. It is a decent sized ski resort and there are good amount of lifts. I stayed on the beginner and intermediate slope and both were okay. Although, I am a beginner and when I went down the beginner slope I didn't know how to stop so I purposely made myself fall when people were around (beginner slope was pretty crowded). One time I did that and slid almost into an instructor and a student and he yelled at me for not stopping earlier, I could not help it because I was a beginner learning by myself, what he should have done was give me advice on how to stop and not yell at me. Other than that, good experience because I got better that day on the intermediate slope (long slope). I recommend to all people and families.

PROS: decent priced and decent sized
CONS: some staff are rude

Newman Hall-Holy Spirit Parish

I have been going to this church for the past few months because I recently moved to Berkeley. I go to the 10pm mass at night (yes, there is a late mass) and love it because the songs are really good, most of the priests are great preachers (but all shake your hand before mass and really welcome you), and you get really spiritual when you step into the church. The night mass is dim and only lit with candles but that's great because no one is shy to sing the songs and you feel more spiritual that way. I recommend to all even if you are not Catholic.

PROS: excellent priests, great songs, spiritual feeling
CONS: no 1030 mass

The frontdesk people are always friendly. The office is a small branch in an Oakland building next to the Kaiser building. It is a clean and professional looking office. Brokers are friendly and smile and they make you feel welcome. They really care about their clients and want to help you with any of your financial goals. They provide high quality service in order to make clients content with whatever their needs are. I recommend to all.

A P Management

I have been living in my apartment for a couple months (my roommate for longer) and AP Management takes care of any problems we have with the apartment. Any time we've had trouble with our sink, shower, or water pressure, we'd call them and they'd come within a day or two. They are friendly and try to fix the problem immediately and effectively. I am satisfied and would recommend to all.

Bear Basics

This place a lot of nice quality clothing for decent prices. Downstairs they sell a bunch of t-shirts for guys and girls for really cheap and upstairs is a very cute girl clothing store called Sway. They sell a lot of Cal/Berkeley clothing and accessories. Once in a while they will have a t-shirt orgy sell or a sweatshirt sell which are pretty good deals. I recommend to all.

Bancroft Clothing Co

This store appeals to many UC Berkeley students because it is the closest department clothing store. It is decent price, some things are cheap, others expensive (like their shoes). I like browsing around the store because they have all sorts of clothing (like any department store should be). I would recommend to all people of all ages (men and women).

CONS: wish there were more signs of where things go (juniors section, dress)
