Az Crash Course-Traffic Safety

To me, traffic school is a neccesary evil that must be endured every few years. AZ Crash Course fulfills the requirement, but that doesn't make it any fun. The material is dry and boring and it makes for an extremely long day.

Cofco Chinese Cultural Center

Phoenix, AZ Museums - Phoenix, AZ Discount Stores - Phoenix, AZ Gifts & Novelties - Phoenix, AZ Gift Shops 07/31/05: 'Good restaurants, but not much of a learning experience'

Unless you consider 4 different Chinese restaurants in one center to be a "cultural experience," the Chinese Cultural Center is not for you. It is merely a shopping center with a grocery store, offices, a very exquisite bridal shop and the aforementioned restaurants. There's not really a sense here of what Chinese culture is all about... no art, music or museum.

Wild Horse Pass Casino

Chandler, AZ Casinos 07/31/05: 'Overcrowded and dirty'

Don't go here on a weekend unless you are willing to stand in line for a machine. They are extremely crowded and to me that's not a lot of fun. The parking is horrible and they bus people in from all over the valley so it's easy to get stuck behind a literal busload of people. It always seems dirty here and it feels like you shouldn't touch anything. There are lots of other casinos in town that are nicer.

Enchanted Island kiddie land

Enchanted Island is a great place for family gatherings, birthday parties or just spending a family day together. This old-school amusement park offers bumper boats, mini roller coaster, a beautiful carousel and other rides that appeal to smaller kids. An all day pass is just $10 for kids and $6 for adults, so it's a great deal.

Desert Breeze Railroad

Chandler, AZ Attractions 07/31/05: 'Unpredictable hours'

Desert Breeze is a large older park with multiple playgrounds and a spray pad. There is also a miniature train that runs around the park, but it seems like it's never open when we go. There's also a merry-go-round, some arcade games and snack machines.

PROS: Large park, nice group ramadas
CONS: Railroad is rarely open

Guy & Gal Salon

Chandler, AZ Beauty Salons 07/31/05: 'Slow, old lady salon'

They advertise that they do kids cuts, but don't go in expecting video stations or special firetruck chairs. This is the type of shop that serves mostly senior ladies looking to have their once a week "hair-do." We waited for 45 minutes for my son's haircut when we were told we'd wait 15 at the most.

Doubletree-Gateway

Phoenix, AZ Hotels & Motels - Phoenix, AZ Resorts 07/30/05: 'Nice business hotel'

This is a great hotel for doing business. It is convenient to the airport and offers free shuttle service. They have nice conference rooms and offer an awesome buffet at lunchtime. Plus, you get those wonderful Doubletree cookies on your pillow at night.

Hyundai Of Tempe

Tempe, AZ New Car Dealers - Tempe, AZ Auto Parts & Accessories 07/30/05: 'No pressure, very nice'

The sales force at Hyundai of Tempe are friendly and knowledgeable. They are not pushy at all, and even though I went in without my husband, they respected my opinions and made me feel comfortable.

Dolce Salon & Spa

Dolce is the largest spa and salon I've ever seen. It is like a warehouse inside with row after row of stylists. However, you can expect personal treatment and a wonderful experience here. The staff are all very friendly and attentive and do their best to make you feel pampered and special.

Park 'N Swap

This huge swap meet is a great place to spend a day searching for treasure. There are all sorts of people there selling everything from handmade, heirloom quality cradles to used magazines and fake IDs. Well worth the $1 admission price, even if you just go and browse.
