I have been going to David's Etc. for about a year now. Even though I have to drive about thirty miles, it is well worth it. My stylist is Stephen, and he provides a great cut with just the right amount of sass. Haircuts usually run about $25, and $45 for a cut and blowout. The staff here is uber-friendly, and seek to make your visit one worth remembering.
PROS: friendly staff, great service, reasonable prices
This nail salon is tucked away in a shopping center off Gladstell Street. It offers a full line of services including hair, nails, skin car, massage, and waxing. I've had pedicures here a couple of times, but I didn't really like the way they did the French tips. I do get my eyebrows waxed here bi-weekly, and they do an excellent job that costs only $7. The staff is very friendly, and they recognize and cater to repeat customers. The atmosphere of the salon is inviting.
PROS: friendly staff, good service, pleseant atmosphere
CONS: mediocre pedicure service
This nail salon is located near the school I teach at, so I frequent it a lot. The service is always friendly, and they do a great job, especially with French manicures. When I want a pedicure, this is the place I go to. It is a little run-down looking on the inside, and it is usually busy on the weekends. Don't go unless you have thirty minutes or more to spare. Oh, and they have specials M-W.
PROS: excellent service, reasonable prices
CONS: seedy location, often busy
I have been a member of Gold's Gym in Conroe before it opened in its new spacious building. The gym offers a variety of machines and classes to satisfy muscleheads and those trying to get and/or stay in shape. In addition to cardio, freeweight, and weight machine stations, the gym also offers a ladies only weight room and a group room where a myriad of classes are offered. The gym also comes equipped with full service bathrooms and a sauna. The only drawbacks to the gym is that the staff is semi-friendly (except for the ones who have been there since its inception), and I am still waiting to recieve some perks I was promised when I joined such as a traveling card and a free consultation with a personal trainer.
PROS: ladies only weight room, various group classes, multitude of machines
CONS: semi-friendly staff
The Sonic on Frazier holds up to the reputation of what a drive-in should be. The car-hops are always prompt and courteous, and the food is always delicious.
PROS: excellent burgers, prompt and friendly service
Redford Park Apartments is a complex located off of Gladstell Road in Conroe, Texas. I have lived in the complex for two years now. I would recommend this complex to anyone looking for a place to live. The office staff is courteous and helpful, as is the maintenance staff. The complex is a quiet community and is perfect for professionals seeking a relaxing, non-college student party atmosphere. It is located minutes from several businesses in Conroe, and offers easy access one of the major freeways in Texas.
PROS: quiet neighborhood, affordable prices, friendly staff
Los Altos de Jalisco is a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in Conroe, TX that is Located adjacently across the street from Margarias, the oldest Mexican restaurant in town. Although the restaurant does not have all the outside trappings of the other restaurants in town, the food beats the competition by a mile. They serve authentic food and homemade tortillas. Number 1 and number 27 are my favorites. This restaurant is also easy on the wallet, with a typical entree costing around $7. The only mediocre thing about the restaurant is that the salsa has a shrimpy flavor. However if you are looking for a authentic food with awesome flavor, try Los Altos.
PROS: excellent food, cheap prices, homemade tortillas, excellent homemade tamale
CONS: shrimpy salsa
