This coffee shop has everything you would want in a "big city" coffee shop, located in a small town. They have books, games, a reading area and more. This is one of the only places in Huntington to see live bands perform, which is a nice change for an afternoon or evening out with friends or your spouse. The drinks (coffee, specialty coffee drinks, hot chocolate and more) are all delicious and reasonably priced. I would suggest this location to someone who is looking for something a little different for an afternoon out.
The Marathon A & A Quick Stop convenience store has really good chicken. The popcorn or bite sized chicken is available in two varieties; normal and spicy. They offer good sauces and the chicken you get it always fresh and hot. This store also has inexpensive fountain drinks, low prices on milk, gas/fuel, and pepsi products are always in stock. The people here are very friendly and always converse with you when you arrive at the counter.
The Johnson Junction Citgo Station on Guilford Street has everything under one roof. They have inexpensive fountain drinks that are one price for any size. This store has many options for snacks, drinks, treats, household goods (though grocery items and household goods may be priced higher than elsewhere), and ready to eat foods. The employees here are friendly, the bathroom is always clean and stocked and the windows and doors are always cleaned.
B K Drive In Restaurant is a great place to stop in Huntington. They have really good hot dogs and the best rootbeer floats around. The rootbeer is not flat, and tastes just wonderful with the vanilla ice cream, and they deliver it to your car with your order. It's nice to not have to leave your car. The waitresses come to your car to take your payment, give you your change and bring your food. It's a friendly small-town place to get a great meal and an even better ice cream treat.
The Huntington Dollar General Store is a bit crowded in its design or arrangement, but is still a good place to find decent prices on many items we use every day. I buy dish soap, laundry supplies, medicines and snacks at this location. The products are never outdated, are displayed nicely and organized and the staff are generally helpful if you require assistance.
The employees at the Huntington Walmart store are so much nicer and friendlier than the employees at other Walmart locations. It might be because Huntington is a small town, or there might be better morale, but either way, it is nice to be greeted with a smile and leave with another smile. The aisles are large in this store, everything seems to be there that should be. The health and beauty department has everything organized so nicely that it never takes long to find what you need. I really do enjoy this store a great deal.
The Huntington McDonalds location has improved greatly on appearance and service both, in the past few years. They used to be very slow and not all that clean. Now, the restaurant is more appealing, has newer outside drive-thru equipment, and wait times have dropped significantly. The food is now always hot when you get it, tastes like it should, looks like it should. It is a nice place to go pick up a Big Mac or just grab some fries to snack on. The options for the happy meals are a big improvement as well and we are glad that McDonalds decided to offer more options.
I do like the K-mart store in Huntington, as it is a nice clean store with full shelves and very little traffic. The aisles are never crowded and it is quiet. I do enjoy the fact that they have one aisle dedicated to markdowns and damaged items, which I like to shop through. The only thing that bothers me with this store is that it is virtually a skeleton crew running it. I have not seen a manager in sight for as long as I've shopped there, there is normally only one cashier and no one in any of the departments manning the counters.
Big Lots in Huntington has a very nice selection of items to choose from every time we are there. The stock changes frequently, so I make sure to buy whatever I find a good deal on, as it may not be there the next time I come into Huntington. I like the toys department for all the infant and toddler toys for my nephew. The furniture department is pretty large compared to others and everything is displayed nicely. This is a very large store with lots of parking, clean floors, nice employees who are helpful and attentive, and you can always find markdown bargains here.
I had imagined more from the Family Dollar Store in Huntington. The store is crowded, not as organized as it should be and the employees are not overly friendly. They do have a large variety of items, but I did not see anything that would draw me back into the store on a regular basis. They do carry a good assortment of snacks, trinkets and personal care items.
