The only thing I can find wrong with this nursery is it's prices. But the prices come along with having excellent staff on hand who are learned botanists. If you are new and want help then this is the place to start.
Not only is this a large, several storied book store with almost any book you can think of but they have a good selection of old books. They buy used and put the excellent older ones aside for special consideration. However, one can find older books in good condition just by browsing a shelf or two.
This is in the art section of downtown Berkeley. They serve lunch and early dinner. During the afternoon hours one can eat and watch a class in action. Capoeira is captivating. The teachers there are masters and the food is good.
I have had to take my animals to them a few different times over the years and with their competent vets and friendly, concerned staff I and my animals have made it through a crisis time with little fear and caring hands. It's pricey but if you love your pets, does it matter? They are, after all, oncall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The trainers know their jobs and their dogs. The six week classes are worth every cent and the pricing is reasonable. Not only will your puppy learn how to sit, stay and potty outside but a few tricks will be thrown in to boot.
Lacis was a favorite of mine years back when it was true to it's name. Now it is filled with re-embroidered clothes, modern vintage look clothes and over priced beads and glass goods. A nice place to stop in and look to do comparision shopping.
This was a wonderful place to poke around in a decade ago. Now its filled with vendors with the same store jewelry, soaps, clothes, knick knacks and cleaning products. No more finds from grandma's attic and hardly ever a booth where someone is actually selling stuff out of their own attic. Don't bother to go.
This is another Berkeley icon store. The hats run the gamut of Dr. Suess to church hats with large brims and lots of fru fru on top. The store is small but mighty and friendly. Wonderful low prices too.
I love a bargain and Target is known for them. However, this store is unpleasant to shop in and it is not only the mess the clothes seem to get into but the staff is not available to help you and the dressing room staff is generally rude, even swearing. I haven't been back in months.
The clothing styles are numerous and they don't claim to be vintage, they just claim to be used. The clothes are in every conceivable style and color, both men and womens clothing, small to extra large. Pants, skirts, shirts, shoes, bags, socks, jewelry. Staff is friendly and store is clean.
