Animal Jungle
I realize the constraints of building-size with regards to pet store animal facilities, however, I was very unhappy with the manner in which ferrets, puppies, and kittens were encased. I believe the business relies on the quick sell of these animals and so they are often squeezed into a smaller facility than appropriate. They ferrets, in particular, were kept in an class terrarium, one level, with no litter box or beds. Approximately 10 ferrets were kept in a 30 gallon tank and that is not nearly enough room for these animals to remain happy and healthy. I was told the store was holding extra ferrets for a "sister store" that they had combined their purchase with. The excess ferrets would be "shipped out" within a week. In the mean time, they were left to step over each others feces and bath/drink from one small water bowl. I will no longer purchase supplies from this pet store as I do not want to support this type of treatment.
Jiffy Lube
Until I discovered this Jiffy Lube store I spent hours waiting for my oil changes. I now spend only minutes waiting for an oil change. They also vacuum the inside of my car, check tire pressure, and inform me of any other maintenance that may be required. I have never felt pressured to purchase extra equipment or services and they have been extremely honest about their recommendations. They also offer a frequent user discount by stamping a card each time you come in. After so many oil changes you receive a free oil change... AND if you lose your card, they will look up the dates of your previous oil changes and stamp a new card for you! That's great for an abscent-minded person like me!
Farm Fresh and Ticketmaster Outlet
With a name like "Farm Fresh" I would really expect a better selection of produce. Often, there is not a large variety of fruits to choose from and their vegetables are not in the greatest condition. They do have less conventional products that I am not able to find at the Naval Commissary where I do most of my shopping. The primary reason I use this store is its location... only a 2 minute walk from my home.
Templeton Properties
CHKD (as this hospital is more commonly known) has a caring staff and the building is set up imaginatively so that children can have fun with their visit and feel comfortable regardless of their condition. This includes themed floors with colorful murals. I donate regularly to this establishment and I recommend that anyone who can afford to do the same. You never know what may happen to your own loved ones and this is the best place to take any sick child in this area.
Captain George's Seafood Restaurant
There's a five dollar discount during lunch on Sundays, but the seafood buffet is normally $25. It is definitely worth it. They have everything... chicken, roast beef, pork chops, huge salad bar with dark green lettuce and tons of other salad fixin's. The buffet also includes a large variety of fish, cooked vegetables, stuffed clams, steamed clams, crab legs (my fav) and a full dessert bar. Go for the buffet, but wear lose pants!
Azar's Market & Cafe
Since I moved here from D.C., I've been searching for authentic Middle Eastern food. This restaurant has an excellent assortment of eastern dishes. In addition, there is a small market of hard-to-find ingredients for popular Middle Eastern dishes as well as popular snacks, fruits and nuts. There's also great outdoor seating for comfortable summer evenings.
Crestar Mortgage Corporation
Suntrust Bank is a strong financial organization and from what I've seen their cater primarily to businesses or very very large personal accounts. I had difficulty with their customer service and they didn't offer any overdraft protection. I am much happier now that I have closed my Suntrust account.
Grand Furniture Discount Stores
I furnished my first apartment in the Norfolk area with furniture from this store. They have a decent variety of furniture to choosefrom and offer free delivery. Not all of their furniture is of the highest quality but I've found some of these less expensive items to be adequate for furnishing my home. I am particularly happy with the mattress that I purchased from Grand Furniture. They do have a website but it is disappointing to find that it does not include views of their available furniture. Instead, the "show room" gives a brief description of their selection.
Dive Quarters Inc
With an on-site pool and a flexible class schedule this is the perfect place for busy individuals to get their dive certification. You can obtain an open water dive qualification and a variety of advanced qualifications or specialty qualifications (i.e. fish identification, underwater navigation). They also allow customers to test out potential purchases in their pool and students may practice their skills at any time as long as they have an adult observer accompanying them.
Supercuts
My boyfriend has given this particular Supercuts store several chances and has never received a quality haircut. He has stray hairs and uneven sideburns. He has also had to wait for an excessive amount of time during each visit.
