We took my dog here when she was dying a long painful death. We received quick medical care, in this case putting her to sleep. Although we were sad, the staff took the utmost care with my precious dog and we felt we did the best for her. I will agree that this vet is more expensive than some regular vet care centers, but for true emergencies you can't beat this place and their excellent care.
PROS: Excellent, knowledgeable emergency care
CONS: A little pricey, but worth it in emergency situations
This is a great place to go when you need everything for your wedding, but have nothing! You will need tables and chairs and many other things and this is where to get them. Prices are not too steep and it definitely beats buying them outright. Before deciding to buy anything for your wedding or special event I'd go here to see all that they offer and save yourself a bundle.
PROS: Rent everything you need for special events, one stop shopping
They have some really good produce here when they are stocked up. I have been here a few times though when they didn't have much and it was kind of the 'bottom of the barrel' kind of stuff left over. When they are stocked to the brim though they have a lot of great stuff like tomatoes, peaches, okra, plums, oranges, apples. I would avoid the stuff they have in the cooler there though because it's been sitting for a while and usually spoils pretty quickly. Also the refrigeration takes away a lot of the taste. Other than that, their produce is good and fresh when you can find it.
PROS: Good tasting produce, good prices too
CONS: Avoid tasteless refrigerated produce, sometimes stock is low
This is a great place to take your dry cleaning or laundry you need done. Their prices are reasonable and they get your cleaning done the way you want it and it doesn't take too long. I especially like it because it's right in the heart of town so it's easy to drop off and pick up while you're going past on your way to the library or pharmacy or whatever. It's a pretty great place and I've never had a problem there.
PROS: Quick drop off and pick up and great service
CONS: small parking area
This is like a huge indoor yard sale containing items coming from unclaimed baggage. There are clothes galore, shoes, decorative items for the home, a little bit of everything. We've purchased suits here for my husband at very discounted prices. The only downside is that the women's clothes are not sorted by size, so you have to dig a little, but there are treasures to be found. They also have a rack close to the front where there are mostly new dresses, like for prom, cocktail parties, weddings and things like that. We've found some nice things there also. This is two stores facing each other in the driveway. The one on the south side of the drive is the one I've been describing. The one on the North Side has mostly new decorative items for your home including curios and nic nacs to go in them. You can really find some pretty things in there for decent prices. They are closed on Sundays, so when you see the gate locked you know they are not open. Overall, this is a great store.
PROS: Used and new goodies, clothes, nic nacs
CONS: Closed on Sundays
I only have one beef with this place and that's the smoke that hits you in the face when you walk in the door. Other than that, I like it because the movies are cheaper than any other place in town, and the old movies are even cheaper than that.
If you've got a sick kid that's couped up in the house and bored and so you need to rent a bunch of movies, this is a great place to do it because they are CHEAP! They also stay up to date with the latest movies when they come out. So, for a quick and cheap rental this is not a bad place to go.
PROS: Cheap movie rentals
CONS: Closed on Sundays
I have always liked going here because they have different choices for the beds. They have the stand up (shower like) tanning bed, or the traditional lay down beds. I never got stripes or had any problems coming here. I seemed to get darker here quickly since they have beds that give you more color in less time. They also sell various lotions and creams and oils that help you tan better. The beds are cleaned in between each person and there are fans in the room for your comfort. So, I have no complaints about this place at all.
PROS: Many different bed choices, high quality beds, fans to cool you
CONS: A little expensive.
My mother in law introduced me to this place and I've gone there ever since when I need their tanning services. They have nice clean tanning beds.
After your turn in the tanning bed, you must clean the bed with spray disinfectant they provide and wipe it down. This is nice knowing it's clean before you get in it. Also, I've always gotten a nice even tan while going here, no stripes or anything like that.
The lady who makes the appointments is also knowledgeable about the length of time you should spend in the bed, based on how quickly you burn, or what color your skin is to begin with. The only time I've ever been burned, is when I didn't follow the advice they gave, so pay attention, they know what they're doing. They have magazines to look at while you're waiting also, which is nice. Their prices are inexpensive compared to a lot of others and they allow you to pay by the visit or buy a package. So, overall I like this place a lot.
PROS: High quality beds, knowledgeable people, low prices
This is a Public H.S. which houses Grades 9-12. It has around 900 students enrolled there. It's a very good school, compared to many in the area. Students who go there and are serious about their education and future have nothing but good things to say about the school.
My husband graduated from LHS and I graduated from a school in Chicago. We often compare notes and I'm amazed at how much more he has learned than I have in any given class. The teachers are very caring.
The stats also tell a lot about the school. The teacher to student ratio is 14, which is excellent. The GSHGT scores showed that 98% of students satisfied standards set for language arts and math. In my opinion 98% is an outstanding achievement.
The school itself is pretty new and so the layout of the school and all that they have to offer is pretty great. LHS got a new principal in the last couple years, and standards have improved since then even more and it seems they are really trying to lower the dropout rate, which is high in this area. So, overall, this is a great school and I can recommend it to others.
PROS: Great Teacher to student ratio, Excellent GSHGT testing scores
CONS: As with other schools there's a high dropout rate.
This library gets 3 stars for only one reason, it is way too small. I guess it disappoints me to see such a small library next to some of the best schools in the entire area. With such high class schools, there should be a high class library to go with it.
There is just no room in this tiny library to have all of the neat things we love to see. Their periodicals are on one short bookcase section. Their reference section is very tiny. The books they have are extremely limited because there's just no room. They have a couple of computers, which is not nearly enough for this large community. There are two card catalog computers. There are a 'few' (very few) spinning kiosks to hold novels, and a teeny tiny shelf of videos to check out.
The children's section takes up a third of the library's space, but still it could be better & bigger. My daughter has come here several times looking for a specific popular book that most libraries have, and they don't have it here. There's not enough room for more than a few people to study or read.
The sad part is, they used to be in an even smaller location and they moved and built this building. Although it is a nice building, it's still not enough. Also, the parking lot is way too small, having like 6 or 7 spots. I would love to see them expand this place once again.
PROS: Nice, clean, quiet library and close to the Chickamauga schools
CONS: So small that you can't find most of what you seek.
